I would go with a chemical cleaner, stay away from the abrasive type cleaners on vinyl. Sounds like your suffering from a little oxidation! Clearkotes Red Machine Glaze would fit that bill..........

My silver stripes faded and dulled after a year or two, and I tried Meguiars vinyl shine/protectant, which protected them from further wear, but hopes of restoring them to their original shine were lost. You might need to replace them.

Is that right BlueV6? I hope not, but if that's the case, then i just need something to make them look decent until i replace them.

Re: How to Revive Vinyl Stripes??

*IF* you do decide to replace, I'd recommend just having them painted on. If you like it enough to buy new stripes, then you must like them enough to have it be a permanent part of the car. With them being painted, you won't have the wax buildup along the edges, and the paint is going to definitely outlast the vinyl. Just my 2 cents
