Post How to make paint in engine bay look good?

I was wondering how I can do this. I have tried a few different things and they don't seem to work all that well and the painnt still looks dull. Thanks.

Have you tried a cleaner/wax type product? This should remove some of the dullness and add a little shine too. Before you add anything though, you should clean the engine area with a degreaser product to remove any loose dirt buildup. Of course, cover all the proper components if you use a degreaser and water. Afterwards, a cleaner/wax should do the trick...

Well, I suppose that makes sense. The paint in those areas generally is not the same quality as the outside of the car. I don't believe they spray any clear coat in those areas either, which is why you were probably seeing the paint come off with a wax. With a cleaner/wax you'll definitely see some pigment coming off of a nonclear-coated surface. Unfortunately, it's almost impossible to make the engine area factory paint look as good as the rest of the car. Have you tried some kind of temporary gloss enhancer spray? I doubt it would do to much good if the wax didn't make much difference though. Just a thought...

Mike is right, the underhood paint is of the single stage, semi-gloss variety.

It's usually not very thick, either, so use caution when working with it.

I wonder if Zaino or Klasse would layer well enough to work under there??

If this cleaning and shine production is for a car to be shown (car show), only rejuveniate gloss to the original level. Anything beyond OEM sheen will lead to point deductions. If for personal gratification a high silicone non-cleaning based pure carnuaba may add some gloss. Zaino (Z2) because of its glossiness may also add some increased
sheen.
