How to get wax off ?

How to get wax off ?

My mom had her 2002 jeep grand cherokee special edition waxed somewhere and they obviously used a buffer because theres marks from the wax on the plastic stuff like the mirrors and the door handles . How do i get this wax off ? simply washing the car does not work . Any ideas would be appreciated. Im sorry if this is in the wrong forum.

Try tire shine or trim shine products (armor all, black magic, etc) with a towel or a brush.

Either simple green or peanut butter. Using something like Armor All or Black Magic is just a temporary coverup.

Interesting how my "temporary coverups" haven't been uncovered. You can also use Castrol Superclean, that'll take anything off.

Yes. If you get it on the paint, spray it off right away. If you notice some discoloring, just re-wax it. I've done it before. Don't let it sit on there forever and ever. Spray it on, scrub, spray it off.

Both of them eat the clearcoat unless mixed with lots of water

Wow. I can not believe some of the things you guys are recommending.

Anyways, peanut butter works good, as does an eraser! (Yep, just a regular eraser like you used in school..just pretend you made a mistake and need to erase it, it works )

Simple Green and Super Clean WILL damage the paint. If it gets discolored you don't "just re-wax it". Ugh. I'm done here, not going to bother.

I'm speaking from personal experience. I've gotten Castrol Superclean on my paint before. It left a "pink"ish streak in my paint until I put another coat of wax on it. That was almost a year ago and I've had NO problems at all on my paint. In fact, it's never looked better.

I think what he meant was that it WILL and DOES damage the paint. HE didn't say the damage was permanent, because it usually isn't. I just think he thought that it was stupid to use something that can damage the paint when there are safe alternatives.

Yes, just because your paint appears fine, doesn't mean it's not contaminated with the acids and crap that are in that stuff. All you're doing by "re-waxing" it is sealing it in.
