Lightbulb How do I keep my rims dust free?

I was curoius if anyone had any hints to keeping the brake dust off of their shiney new rims. I just got some 10 spokes SS rims and wanna keep them looking good. I thought about spraying them with a cooking spray but dont know how that will react with other things.(i.e. the brakes) Any info would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Bo

If you wax or polish them, this will reduce the amount of dust buildup. Plus, the dust won't attach itself to the wheels as easy so clean up is easier in the future. A good quality sealant like Zaino is the best solution.

Mike has probably the best idea you're going to hear. It's pretty much a loosing battle to try and keep rims dust free, but this is a good way to lessen the amount that does stick to them.

Cool

If you keep a good coat of wax or sealant on your rims the dusting off after usage of that car each day should not take more than 10 mins. I use my carnauba waxes left over after switching to Zaino for my rims. Both protect equally and I can used the old QD as well. More Z6 for the body. How would I ever get rid of the carnuaba except on my beater.
No matter what you use you must periodically use a good cleaning solution to remove the loosely embedded brake dust. High temp particles actually embed onto the rim . That is why I prefer a carnuaba that has a lttle added cleansing (polishing) ability.

If you leave them a little too liong and they are dirty - the meguiars Hot Wheels (think thats the name) spray on rim cleaner works really well.

I also use zaino on my rims - so they clean up pretty well when done . .

The only draw back to carnauba based products on the rims is that the heat will really kill wax pretty fast . .synthetics will alst longer there - - but if you gotta use up old stuff, i spose thats as good a place as any

A claybar piece will remove anything embedded into the clearcoat(if they have them) and anything else stuck to them.

10 spokes - man thats too many - i'm rim shopping and always trying to balance looks with ease of cleaning . .

Thanks guys. It looks like I need to go get me some wax. I love my 10 spokes but they are so light in color and that shows the dirt alot more. I love them though so it looks like I need to go to the store now.
Thanks again fellas,
Bo

If you're gonna look for store bought waxes to protect them, try to find either Meguiar's #20 Polymer Sealant, Liquid Glass, or even NuFinish. All of these are available in several local stores in many areas and they are all forms of polymers which will protect and last much longer than a carnauba formula. NuFinish is the cheapest of the bunch at about $5 or $6 a bottle; it does contain strong cleaners as well.

Thanks MikeLS. That answers my next question. I have had really good luck with Meguiars in the past so I think I'll go with it. This might not be as bad as i thought.
