HELP! Wrote in the dust on my back window. Now won't remove

A roughneck worte GEOLOGIST on the outside of the back window of my 2007 Hummer H3. I washed it off but it is visible whenever the window is wet or dusty again.

Any ideas? I tried scrubbing with soap and water and the foaming glass cleaner. No Luck.

damn bro that sucks i work at a dust hole and we've wrote on the windows and never anything like that. Only thing i can think of is your glass *** some kinda protective coating on the exterior that got scratched.

I often use polish on the glass, it should do the job.

I've got a feeling that if dust left permanent (or semi-permanent) scratches on his window that even 0000 steel wool would do the same or worse.

no steel wool will not scratch windows. I detail and paint cars all day and use it on every car. never scratched one. It may be grease from a sweaty finger try using some simple green or alcohol. or wet the window and use ultra fine steel wool or a brand new razor blade. **If u use a razor blade 1) dont cut yourself ;wear gloves, 2) and use an angle of about 20 degrees or so to prvent the razor from catching the glass. I have had my wipers come off scratch my glass and all i did was use fine steel wool and compound. youd never know it was there. so if all else fails try compounding the window
with a polisher or orbital buffer, either should be sufficient.

+10

This took off paint over spray and embedded dust on my second pair of T-Tops without scratching anything. I totally agree.
