Having trouble getting used to Zaino!

Ok.. here is the story.. I love Zaino first of all.. I did notice a huge difference in quality, however I'm having a lot of trouble getting used to the fact that I have to use so little of it to do the entire car! The first time I used it I think I put 1 ounce.. and I put it all on, and there was a visable coat of wax.. it dried and everything was fine. it worked great.. then I read that I put WAY too much on.. so I use 1/2 ounce to do the entire car and I put the amount on the pad and rubbed it in the amount of area that people say to do. But it goes on completely invisable! I finish the car and it looks like I did nothing at all and then I don't even know if I'm rubbing it off because I can't see it.. should it be this clear? Thanks

Pefect, properly applied from 10 feet away you should not even be able to tell the car finish has any polish on it awaiting removal, the days of big, thick, cakey waxing is GONE thank goodness.

Oh ok.. well thats great.. but another thing.. when you apply it in circular motion and then it says to go back over the same spot in back and forth motions.. that doesn't mean reapply more polish to the applicator then go over it right? It just means rub back over whats already there correct? well I hope at least.

Oh.. and how do you know when it is dry? I can't see anything at all even if I put my nose to the surface.. do I just wait 20 min and kind of assume? Thanks

You only apply Z-1 in a circular motion, all Zaino polishes Z-2, Z-3 and Z-5 (with ZFX or not) you want to apply your polish in a bumper to bumper direction on the top surfaces, and up and down on the sides. On some color cars it will be very hard to see, that means your applying it properly.

That's really what I hear most often from other users is that the polish is so "optically clear" that it's hard to see on the surface when it's applied. I helped a neighbor with a white Jag a while back and he was having a really tough time seeing the polish on his white paint. What you need are some good lights to work under. This will greatly enhance your ability to see where you're polishing. I generally work under 2 flourescent lights (4 bulbs total) and don't have a problem. The guy with teh white Jag had no lights in the garage, so I'm rally not surprised he was having a hard time. I was basically going by the available sunlight when helping him.... I like to apply the polish so that I see a very light film on the paint. You might need to apply it a little bit thicker than you have been....

It's best to apply the polishes in straight motions not circular. Sometimes I'll apply the polish up/down first then go back over that area immediately going side to side to ensure complete coverage.

Normally you do Z1 circular and Z2/Z5 in back & forth motions. The directions for ZFX on Zaino's web site say to do circular then back & forth over the same spot. Since your putting both the bonding agent and the polish on in one step this sort of makes sense.

I've done it both ways, as per directions and just back & forth and seen no difference in results.
