Deep "Polish" recomendations?
Deep "Polish" recomendations?
I did a search and didnt find an answer.
I useto like "Kit" carnuba (comes in a yellow can) it looked SO deep, and the car was super slippery!, but it didnt last very long, usually 2 washes!
Here's my new system:
I wax it with Mothers carnuba cleaner paste,
Then I've been finishing it off with this stuff called NXT, that I like! it's really good, no dust, leaves the car really shiny I'm looking forward to useing it again.
But- Between those steps would it be right to use a direct Polish? I'm looking for a really deep shine, something that will really set the car off (like a freshly waxed black car)
I was at autozone today and couldnt find anything that stood out.
Should I bother? just stick to my current routine? Any recomendations?
Also- I havent waxed it since early december, I had the hood & rear bumper re-painted in mid december, is it safe to wax those area's yet in another month? I forget how long I should wate.

Re: Deep "Polish" recomendations?
Your first step (hopefully you have done this) would have been to properly strip off all of the old wax with a paint cleaner, and then thoroughly polishing the paint surface to a streak free shine.
The carnauba would typically be the last step product that you would've applied, in other words the Mother's paste carnauba. Many other people like to experiment with other products. I prefer to compare different brands, and then choose one brand, and concentrate on the single brand during a season. You can top a carnauba with a very good wax friendly quick detail. There are many to choose from, but the best IMO over the counter qd's would definitely be Zymol's Detail (if you can find it), followed by a very distant second with Turtle Wax's Platinum Detail. I did not find Meg's Quick Wax Detail to be of any good, but you can try that or Mother's if you don't find the Zymol or T.W.
Check out www.autopia.org and you will get a much greater wealth of information about various detailing supplies, including polishes, waxes and quick detail sprays. Good luck.

I think I did, does it come in a clear little bottle and is a creamy light blue color?
The mothers Carnuba that I've been useing is a Cleaner wax too, I think if I put it on later It would remove all previous wax on the car.
Re: Deep "Polish" recomendations?
If that's the case, I would strongly recommend that you put on the Mother's Pure Carnauba paste wax. It will not have a cleaner in it, and you can layer with it moderately and develop a slick paint surface.
Mother's waxes and polishes are good OTC products that will bring nice results. I would also encourage you to try other detail products in your travels, because you will be amazed (at least I was) at how much better you can develop your paint finish with a right balance of products and effort.

I'm going to see if I can find that Zymol stuff.
I'll probably use the Mothers cleaner wax, then maybe a few coats of either the Carnuba Kit then the NXT paste or multiple layors of the NXT.
It's been a hard winter, I cant wate to shead these snow tires for the nice tread and clean it up! I'll post some pictures, thanks, lbls1, I checked out your groups site and your car is mighty fine!
SSOM SS coupe is probably my dream camaro, keep it nice!
