Angry Darn it!! Scratch on my bumper

I'm really mad at myself now. You see, I was ready to pull into my garage and I was reaching for my remote, which just happened to be in the back seat today. My foot sorta slipped off the brake and my camaro ran right into the closed garage door. The door is dented a little as well, but I don't care about that! I have two mild sctaches(not even to the metal) on tips of the bumper(the parts on top of the grille). Question is, is there anyway I can polish this down with some sort of wax or something? None of the paint has really come off, it's just sorta the color a mix of a light blackish color. I want to make this as invisible as possible without touch up paint. I was wondering if I could sand it down or use some sort of polish to smooth out the light scratches... I don't know... what do you guys suggest? Any help would be appreicated greatly. Thanks! you can reach me at moonre@aol.com

Is the damage in the paint or is it paint from the door on your car???

If it isn't deep I would guess some of it could be buffed and hid by Zaino Z-5 depending on the deepness.
I'm no expert, but that would be my guess.

It's actually a combination you could say. In one spot, it seems like paint from the door, while on the other, it seems a bit rough, like it scatched up the paint just a little bit. I just want to know how to smooth it out and make it white again(color of my car). Thanks!

Wink

Try some 3M imperial hand glaze - that's about as abrasive as you want to go. Then follow that up with some polishing compound. Remember to only use back and forth motions. If you have to do a touch up don't worry, if done right (the tooth pick method) it will hardly be noticeable.

Good luck fixing that scratch,

I noticed that most of these polish/scratch remover products are temporary fixes. Is there anything that will fix a light scratch permanently? If not, which of these products would last the longest? Z-5? Should I try a scratch remover for cars and not a polish? Thanks for any help.

If it's just some black stuff, chances are that a claybar will remove it.

I did something similar; I bumped my bicycle's rubber handle on my rear quarter panel and it left a black mark. I clayed it and now I can't tell it ever happened.

Talking

I finally got around to washing my car today and also got around to fixing that scratch. I used Kit's scratch remover, a pretty mild polish(I would think) although it says it is not abrasive. The scratches blended right in. I'm pretty happy with the results. Thanks for all the help!

BTW, 3M scotchgard is available contrary to what some people think. I went to PepBoys today and they were selling them. I snatched one right away and my interior is drying now...

Happy Holidays everyone!
