Sorry I can't help you with your problem, but I was wondering how much you paid for the Torque Thrust 2's and what size they were...

Thanks

Travis

I got my 17" Torqs from Summit Racing 2 weeks ago for $1100, they were on sale $20 off on each rim. But the best way that I have herd so far on how to clean them is just water. But I will also use spray wax to give them the extra shine.

i paid 1420 from a place called custom wheel industries inc. i got 17x9.5 torq thrust 2's with 5.25 backspacing in the front and 5.5 backspacing for the rear. they charged me 50 dollars a wheel for the special backspacing and the price of $1420 includes all the tax and shipping right to my door. they did a great job so you should check um out. i think they have a website so you could run a search, iof not post another reply and ill give you their number.

Why did you use the backspacing? Did you put on wider tires? But then again u didn't need the backspacing even for that. My rims are the same size as yours. The price that I paid $1100 was everything up to my door.

i got different backspacing because i wanted them wider than 8 inches thats not enough when you want a real street machine that can handle very well. the difference is the wheels you ordered from summit don't come 9.5 inches wide they only come 8 inches wide. that means all together i get six extra inches of contact on the road for more grip all around. also they are deep dish and the ones at summit aren't. also i needed different backspacing because the backspacing on 9.5 is 6.5 - 7 and 3/8 which is to much for our year and the stocks use 5.25 backspacing to keep alignment to stock specifications and with the custom backspacing i got the wheels sit perfect in accordance to my fender. trust me i did lots of research also chevyken has the same ones on his iroc do a search and you'll see the difference that wider is better. hope you didnt get offended. just trying to explain it. Holla back.

That's cool man, non taken. But I also looked around for a while too and then I finaly made my order by Summit. When I talked to the guy on technical assistance in Summit I asked him if they did carry 17x9.5 (even if it did not show it in the mag) he told me of cource we have them. So I got them from there for that price. Even my receipt tells the size of them. But another thing, a friend of mine who has been working hot rods for yrs also has 94Z too in his colection, he lately placed chrome ZR1s of the same size without backspacing. No offence, I am also just trying to explain.

If you check it on line it is not listed in that size. I hope your not offended for this but I just wanted to inform you about it. Peace!

Thumbs up

that's great and im glad you found a great deal but ive had mine for a month so its too late for another price. if you have them on you would agree there worth even if you paid 1000- 1500 for them there awesome. do you have yours on. check your receipt what size backspacing did you get? i know with my 5.5 its barely away from the inside wall in the rear i probablky could squeeze another inch but they will rob in the front if they are that wide with backspacing higher than that trust me. ive turned my wheel all the way and they dont rub at all but you coulnt squeeze afinger back there. mind fit perfect and sit flush with the fender sitting on 275/40zr rated tires from pepeboys. its a smooth *** ride now and excellent grip. i just want to know if ytou have yours on and if they are too far underneath the car. i hope they fit right for you like they fit for me. ill post some pictures next week on my page so you can get a better look.

PS : they also look hot with painted calipers if you havent done that already.

yo lightning 2000 i just called summit and you were right on one thing they do carry
17x9.5 but you failed to realize the least amount of backspacing they carry is 6.5 and i called and they told me they woulnt fit on my 91. they will stick out past my fenders which i knew because before i bought mine i measured everything with the wheel off. you might have more space than i do. i know 6.5 wont fit on mine. i hope they fit for you. good luck man. hope you let me know how they work out.

Ok! Now it makes a little since! I didn't know you had a 91, there might be a difference with are cars there. Mine have been on since the last 2 weeks and I had my calipers done almost a month ago so they could be ready for the Torqs. They look awesome. And yes the back spacing for me is the 6.5. But also placing 18" on 4th gens aren't a problem either, the only thing you have to deal with is the price for the size and the hard time you will have finding the tires you want. 4th gens also can handle 20" rims, but at that point it will start rubbing when you turn. The size we got right now is just perfect. I was about to put on 11ns in the back, but I said what the heak, I will just stick with the 275-40 so I could rotate. I wish a had a pic to show ya. And yea the rims worth the money for what ever price we paid for them, it just makes the car stand out. But on the road it took me a few days to adjust my driving, cause with every deformation of the road them tires just wanted to take over! People might have thought that I was drunk or something, he! I just love it when I am cruising and I see heads turning hear and there! Don't you!

thanks for replying back man. yeah i think the difference was the years because i think you have almost 2 inches extra room under your fenders, but i dont so i had to get them custom. thanks anyway for the help. ill try to post some photos next week and i hope you can post some to cuz i like to see other third gens that look good. peace.
