Anyone had thier entire car painted before?

Hey guys, my car is in desperate need of paint. Heck, it's 3 colors right now. (Minor front end collision with a ditch.) So my dad just informed me that he would paint the entire car since I'm going back to school this year. Well, he wants me to go to a local stealership and get a qoute. So I know that will be outrageous. Anyone here ever had the entire car (minus doorjams, under the hatch, and engine bay) painted before? How much did that run you? I know a local painter around here and his price will be cheaper than the stealership but I also would like to compare his price to what some of you guys have paid before. Thanks.

A total repaint should cost ~$2,500ish.

I know it is not a help but I painted mine myself. It is flame red with arctic white racing stripes. $2500ish is not far off from what I would charge. It is not the supplies that cost, it is the labor.

you're cutting yourself short, brother. I'm in it for the grins too but my family has to eat. It is a speciality to paint cars and it takes a lot of time and hard work.
