Ok, Ive just done a crapload of reading up on this issue. Some people say do the rag joint illiminator, some people say the LS1 shaft. Looks like the LS1 shaft doesn't have the rag joint, so what prevents that shaft from forcing the column into the driver in an accident? If the argument for the ragjoint is safety in the breakaway of the rubber joint, then how come GM didn't include this in the LS1 shaft design?
Im thinking that ragjoint illiminator isn't any more dangerous than the LS1 shaft...

The factory column and the shaft have a small range of movement to collapse roughly 2" total
so in retrospect either will allow the same safety aspect..if you are too close to the wheel your gonna get
messed up regardless
