Ripped off by gixXxinRS? You decide *pics*
ripped off
Just for further reference. If you send a postal money order and somone dosn't send your parts it is mail frawd. Thats right your government probably has a whole room of poeple making good money to track down poeple who don't ship your parts. Next time you buy check with your local postmaster. Thanks Gary

As of this transaction, next time I'll also make a point when asking for a description, to say "Ok, now is this part in the same general arrangement it was from the factory?" and "Is this part in the same number of pieces it was from the factory?" and finally "Have you done any unnecessary and detrimental modifications to this part since it came from the factory?" I would have had to ask those questions in this case. Silly me.

Glad I could provide some entertainment for you folks
I'm going to try and send pics to the address above Monday if they are still on the camera. Unfortunately, my roommate took the camera I had the pictures on and he's out of town. If you read the advertisement I wrote, you are picturing what came in the box.
I just took a picture of the box for reference, but my camera isn't cooperating with my PC. I plugged in the USB cable, and now the camera smells like like an electrical fire
. I never liked that camera anyway
. Regardless, the box is about as tall and wide as my size 13 shoe, and about twice as long. You gotta ask yourself: Would a Y-Pipe fit in a box that size?
I could take some pics with my camera, but 1) I did manage to get the parts to go into something that loosely resembles a Y pipe 2) it's on the car at the moment, 3) you can't really appreciate how lousy this thing was when I got it and 4) apparently my Toshiba (Japanese for "S**T") digicam has given up the ghost.

For Sale: one semi-complete do-it-yourself Y-Pipe kit. Formerly a Mufflex part, my buddy and I hacked it to pieces, made a half-assed attempt at welding it together, and then gave up and took it back apart. The pieces won't fit together any more because we beat the ends up trying to take it apart, and we tried to install the two tubes on the wrong side, so we caved in each tube with a hammer. There are hammer dents in several places other than those mentioned, for which there is no logical explanation. I know you can buy it new for $275, but I'll make you a deal on this one: 36% off. Hope you aren't in a hurry, cause it takes me several weeks to ship.

I couldn't help but notice Mr. Alex has stopped posting in my lovely thread. That's odd because I know for a fact Mr. Alex reads this board very regularly, and he's subscribed to the thread. FWIW Alex, life moves fast, I'm over the fact you ripped me off. If you'll apologize for lying to me, we'll just call it even. I figure now that I have your mess of parts back together, I can get $100 for it, and apply that towards a new one. You know what I'm gonna use for an ad?
It's interesting that of all the fantastic threads I've started, none has ever gotten as much response as this one
Forgot to mention; I spoke to my roommate and he agreed not to delete the original pics. Barring some onforseeable event, I'll have before pics Monday. If my 3.5" catback stuff comes in this week, I'll also have "After" pics, along with better pics of the inexplicable random dents on it.

Nosfed, you can't let this go. Send him the part back and get your money back. If I remember correctly from business law class, either seller or buyer can back out of an agreement at any time, but don't quote me.
I've bought maybe $3000 worth of stuff from this board, and that fact that we are all members, help each other out with tech problems and generally talk car junk means something. If you can't trust somebody's word on here, then you might as well shut down the whole site.
This dude should send you your money back and you send him the parts. I may be a hard *** about stuff like this, but I never lie to people, or misrepresent myself. Take him to small claims court if you don't get your money back and he doesn't get the part back.
My $.02.
I'm still waiting for my catback from him. I have no problem going to florida and taking this guy to court if need be. Might not be worth the time or effort, but throwing money away on these cars isn't worth the money and effort either, so it's all relative to what you believe in.

I don't know anybody in this tread and I don't know the history. However, I can speak objectively about the mufflex y-pipe. I am also the person who wrote the Long Tube Installation Article over on Thirdgen.org.
1) It comes to you in pieces. It is not welded together.
2) It comes to you bashed in
They 'clearance' the 3" pipes about a foot from the collector in order to clear the tranny crossmember.
3) The pipes do have very weird angles that make you think that it won't fit.
4) The mufflex y-pipe is pretty crappy. Here are my notes from the install article over at thirdgen.org: "If you are going to run the Mufflex TPI-Y pipe for the hooker 2210’s (Part Number TPI-Y or TPI-Y O2 available from Mufflex Performance) then be prepared that it will most likely not ‘bolt-in’. I had to take the car to a local speed shop to have them chop up and reweld it. The passenger side hit the passenger side frame rail. The driver’s side didn’t hit anything but tucked up way too close to the stock Torque Arm mount. "
Here is mine all welded up after modification...

Here is Phil's all welded up...

As much as I'd love to have a refund for this junk, there is no way I would trust Alex to send it, and he's basically backed out on his offer anyway. If I send him the part I'd just be out the shipping on top of the money I'm already out- throwing good money after bad. Worse yet, he'd probably resell it to some other unsuspecting sucker.
If this clown were local, I'd take him to court but I can't see traveling to Florida in an effort to recover $175. Then again, if this were a local transaction I'd have handled this already
.
