Ripped off by gixXxinRS? You decide *pics*
At least I hope you can view the pictures. I tried to upload them to a cz28.com site, but it says they're too big, even when I take them at the lowest resolution.
So to the point: here's the ad I bought this part from:
quote:
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
3rdgen hooker LTs , jet coated w/ mufflex y-pipe 3"-to 4" cat back
$350+shipping
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
http://web.camaross.com/forums/showt...hreadid=205802
Alex, don't bother deleting the post, I've already saved it.
Anyway, the part took two weeks to ship after I explicitly said I was in a hurry and needed it shipped immediately. He finally sent it Monday, and it came in today. This is NOT a Mufflex, obviously. It's a total POS that somebody made at home, and no way in hell I'd have paid $175 for it if he'd been honest. If I wanted to build the damned thing I'd have bought the parts and built it!
He offered to refund my money if I wasn't happy with the part, but he's been less-than-honest about everything else, I doubt he's going to honor that promise. Worse yet, if I send the thing to him I'm sure he won't send me a refund, and then I'll be out the shipping on top of the $175 I already wasted. Pics don't do this thing justice. The welds are among the worst I've ever seen, and the tubes are caved in for clearancing. Worse yet, one of the pipes coming out of the Y is welded at an upwards angle. For the life of me I can't figure out how this stupid thing would even go together.
EDIT: I need a picture host. I really want you guys to see this collection of junk. I'm working on finding somebody to host these fine pictures. Meanwhile, I'm STILL without a car.....
It's a good thing he lives in Florida and I'm 1000 miles away.

So, how about refunding my money? This part is absolutely worthless.

Pictures could never do these "welds" justice. There is no way a muffler shop did these:
http://www.savepic.com/freepictureho...g=000_0106.jpg
It looks like it was welded with one of those "constant-on" cheapo wal-mart welders.
Now, here's a Mufflex:
http://www.savepic.com/freepictureho...g=fbody_39.gif
Sorry Alex, but the welds on this part were clearly done by somebody that can't weld. The only welds that are decent are the ones on the Y itself.
I'm not about to resell this junk, so it's either going in the trash or back to you. I'll even eat the return shipping, though I don't feel good about doing so.

Let me say it again: there is absolutely no way a professional exhaust shop did this thing.
Am I to assume that you won't honor your promise of refunding my money if I'm unhappy with this?

What's your next excuse?
Edit: So you're telling me that Mufflex sent out this as a parts kit, not welded at all?
im still thinking about the refund.
but your reasons for wanting it are WAY off, just because a used part is not the way you expected it to be(NEW) your going over the edge.
you drag me in the mud. then i take a day off work to make sure its shipped(ok should have been done sonner)
and now your busting my ***** again!
ITS A USED PART,THAT WAS WELDED AND CUT APART.
I MAYBE A LOT OF THINGS BUT IM NOT A SCAMMER.
IT IS A REAL MUFFLEX PART THAT I USED, WORKED GOOD. STILL WILL IF YOU GET OFF YOUR BUT AND WORK THE PART.
I BET IN THE TIME YOU TOOK TO GET BACK ON CZ AND TRASH ME AND EVERYTHING ELSE YOU COULD HAVE HAD THE PART GRINDED AND FITTED WAITING TO BE WELDED.
BUT KNOW YOUD REATHER COME ON HERE AND START PROBLEMS.
i gotta go back to work now.

then you must be asking the wrong questions or not describing the parts right. i also just called and will call back later and talk to the owner to see if he cant get on here and confrim or deny
that it is a mufflex part.
in the mean time if you could take pics of the diffrent pipe so he(the owner of mufflex) can get a better look when i talk to him.
thanks
Alex

This will be my last post on the subject, but I'm going to correct you on a couple points.
You did offer to refund my money if I wasn't satisfied. Here are your exact words, taken from your email:
ill have it all boxex up waiting.. ill wait to hear
back from you before i cash the MO. just to make sure
you happy...
Sound familiar? Regardless, I don't have much faith that you would send a refund anyway, and who knows how long it would take to get? I've already wasted enough time and money on this project.

I assume you are referring to the previous post I made? Can you blame for being nervous when you stopped responding to my emails, and when you lied several times saying you would mail it? You put me off for two weeks, and I'd bet money that if I hadn't made that post you still wouldn't have mailed it. It's the only thing that seems to get your attention. And today I feel that you have earned the privelage, so this post stays.
As for taking a day off work... you aren't getting much sympathy there. You had two weeks to mail the part, and you'll never convince me you didn't have five minutes in that two week period to live up to your agreement.

Do you remember telling me that you had dissasembled this part, hacked it all to hell and gone? I can assure you that you DID NOT! If you had been honest about the parts' condition, I'd never have bought it, and you know it. That's exactly why you didn't mention it, so stop acting coy. Whether or not I have the ability to make this part work is immaterial.
After thinking about it, I do believe that the mess of parts you sent me started as a Mufflex part. What was throwing me were your poor welds. Again, since you didn't bother to mention that you'd cut the thing apart, I had no reason to suspect that it had been a decent part at one time.
Can you not comprehend that there is a difference between a part and a collection of components? If I wanted to fabricate the damned thing, I'd have bought all the elbows and done it myself! It would have cost a lot less and I wouldn't have had to wait for two weeks to get it! Any reasonable person would have assumed that when you advertised a "Mufflex Y Pipe" it was in fact a useable part. NOWHERE did you mention that you had hacked it into pieces... It would have been accurate to advertise it like this:
See, I'm an honest seller, and if I were selling that part, that's the description it would have had.
I'm leaving this post up. If people who read it think I'm the jerk, it'll do you no harm. If they read it and think you are the jerk, you are getting what you deserve. Best of luck

It would have been accurate to advertise it like this:
For Sale: one semi-complete do-it-yourself Y-Pipe kit. Formerly a Mufflex part, my buddy and I hacked it to pieces, made a half-assed attempt at welding it together, and then gave up and took it back apart. The pieces won't fit together any more because we beat the ends up trying to take it apart, and we tried to install the two tubes on the wrong side, so we caved in each tube with a hammer. There are hammer dents in several places other than those mentioned, for which there is no logical explanation. I know you can buy it new for $275, but I'll make you a deal on this one: 36% off. Hope you aren't in a hurry, cause it takes me several weeks to ship.
See, I'm an honest seller, and if I were selling that part, that's the description it would have had.
