OBDII-OBDI PCM conversion.
OBDII-OBDI PCM conversion.
Ive got an OBDII to OBDI PCM conversion from my 1996 A4 SS. I was used for about a week before i got my Dyno tune. I bought it new for $225. Make some reasonable offers. PM me for details.
Re: OBDII-OBDI PCM conversion.
No its an OBDI PCM that was modified by Ion at madz28.com for OBDII vehicles so it will work with OBDII sensors.
Here is what it says right off madz28.com.
- Complete OBDII to OBDI Conversion Kit
$225 -- OBDII to OBDI Conversion Kit for all 96-97 LT1s. Absolutely Plug and Play! Includes a modified OBDI PCM to work with your OBDII knock sensor(s) and custom programming.
Some people choose to go with an OBD1 conversion since this conversion gives you several advantages:
It usually yields a few more HP than a programmed OBD2.
You get to keep your stock PCM. (In case you just want to keep it or if you have to pass emissions)
You can get free or cheap tuning/data logging software for it.
It is more forgiving than an OBD2 when it comes to modifying your car. (it will set less codes)
OBDI does not have a crank sensor or rear o2s, so the conversion will ignore these devices. (you can however disable them in OBD2 programming as well)

Re: OBDII-OBDI PCM conversion.
I was kinda spooked... I only paid $50 for my OBD I computer... I was beginning to think you were trying to rip people off. I didnt realize it was allready tuned. Good price... as a tune like that usually costs around $200. Add the cost of the computer... and your at $250 (minimum!!! I have never seen a computer sell for $50 except for the one I bought. Usually they are between $75 and $100). Keep that in mind to who ever is interested in purchasing this.
Re: OBDII-OBDI PCM conversion.
Here is a list of everything that was programed into it.
- Performance/Power tuning (premium octane use)
- Knock retard desensitizing
- Rev limiter set to 6200 RPM
- Disable speed limiter
- Coolant fans readjusted to 180º(low speed) and 190º(high speed) < for 160º thermostats
- Disable AIR
- Disable EGR
- No rear O2 sensors on OBDI
- Increased shift firmness
- Shift points set to 6000 RPM
I gained 10rwhp and 10rwtq all the way across the board. I have dyno graphs to prove.
This will work with 1996 A4 Camaros, not sure on other years or pontiacs.
I'd like to see $150.
