HELP!!I think I got scammed, any advice?

On march 25 2003 I sent cashiers check ($425) to a guy in MO for borla exhaust. We had various emails before I sent cash, he seemed to be very honest. After I sent check...the saturday after actually..He said he was gonna ship it that day and I should recieve it midweek(this week). So I asked him for tracking number. Two days later he tells me that he is waiting for his secratary to give him the number and I would get it as soon as he got it. Now he doesnt even respond to my emails. I havent heard any thing from him since monday. I dont know what to do. I have tried everything from getting sh**ty with him to trying to be understanding with him but still no response. I posted on here that I was looking for Borla for my 96 T/A and put my email address in the post and he responded that way but i found out that his s/n on here is the same as his email addy it is bigblock_z28 and he only registered in January and has only one post. Ishould of checked sooner but i have never had a sour deal till now. I honestly thought I could trust him I guess that i what I get for thinking. Can anyone help me get my money back or the borla i paid for. Any help or advice is greatly appreciated.

Advice: post your problem in the for sale section. Any purchase is at your own risk. More research into you seller should have been done (I think you know that, now). You might try contacting local authorities where the person lives.

When all avenues are exhausted and you think it is time. Call in the heat.

You sent a guy with one post here $425? I wouldn't spend over $50 on a part from anyone with less than 100 posts, that's just a general rule of thumb I use. Anyone with less than 10 posts here in say a month or two I would not do business with at all, it's to big of a risk. Anyway, I hope you get your money back and as mentioned you should put this in the for sale section to warn others.

If he's stopped responding I would give him one more week and then contact a DETECTIVE in his area. Not a regular cop that sits at the front desk doing reception but a real fraud investigator.

If it was me, I'd take action now. I have read other simliar stories here and on Project Trans Am and when you stop getting responses, that seems to be the sign of a bad seller.

I am sorry this happend to you, but maybe your experience will help others new to the boards not to get taken by such a person. If I lived close to that guy, I'd go get your Borla for you and I know others would do that same. The honest F-Body people need to stick together!

Good luck!

God Bless America!

Always remember to get a full name, phone number and address..... If they wont give you at least one on the phone # or address, then something isnt right.... I always get some kind of background before I send money.... I guess its the ex-cop in me..

dishonest people suck. Makes it so much harder for honest sellers to sell.

Giving him a month is too much time if he isn't even responding to your e-mails, as mentioned give him a week to contact you with a some valid answer for his delay or at least a phone number. If not bring in the heat

I'll move this to the For Sale forum... these type of problem posts are posted most often in that forum.

Good luck!

I agree with zjoker, check with your bank to see if its cleared yet.If it has get a copy.If it hasnt and you feel uncomfortable then cancel it.If the stuff shows up after you cancel it then apoligize for the misunderstanding and rewrite the check.
Please dont put trust totally in the post count!I've only been a member here a month or so and spend most of my time in the lounge and those post dont count.Im a helluva guy!Momma raised me right!Anyway, someone with 10,000 post can rip you off as easy as someone with 1.
Good luck A&Fls1.
