I have an all aluminum 5.3 Long Block out of a 2004 SSR that had only 62 miles on it. This motor came straight from the GM warehouse. It is a complete long block. All it needs is your accesories and intake. GM does not offer a short block replacement, the replacement long block is 5800.00 from GM. This is a low mileage long block. The October and November issues of Car Craft magazine contain an article on a 5.3 like this that made 458 hp with modifications. Please check the magazine article to see what other modification would be needed. This would be a good start on a similar engine for your truck or street rod. This should fit most applications using the 4.8L, 5.3L, 5.7 engine and will save weight if used in an application using the cast iron block. $2000 + shipping obo
