Re: 383 LT1 forged shorblock

question, that seems like alot of build up on the pistons for 1 min of run time... when i just yanked mine the pistons where very clean still and they have dyno pulls and about 1500 miles... i ask because im very interested in the motor, and its either i buy this or a new crank for mine... and what kind of power do you feel it could take? and why not splay the main caps while it was out?

Re: 383 LT1 forged shorblock

The motor was used for a few thousand miles before being freshened up with new rings and bearing. The parts are not "brand new". They were cleaned, inspected, and reassembled with new rings and bearings. The motor is good for 600rwhp or so, but I would recommend splayed caps for what you have. Or, pull this motor apart and add them. I bought the motor this way in a car that a friend and I went in on together.

Again, this is not a 2500-3500 forged shortblock with all the best stuff. Its a nice budget forged shortblock that will be strong enough for most people, but not all. Its priced accordingly
