2000 Suzuki Bandit, 10.18 @ 134 mph
2000 Suzuki Bandit, 10.18 @ 134 mph
I'm selling my 2000 Suzuki Bandit 1200. It has about 6,500 miles on it. This bike is considered a Sport-Standard. It is reasonably comfortable, but is nimble and powerful too. Huge mid-range torque (90 rwft-lb) makes for 2nd gear, 70 mph power wheelies (no clutch drop). There are only 2 production sport bikes that make more torque than this bike (GSX1300R and ZX12R with 98 and 91, respectively). Even the famed 2003 GSXR1000 only makes 78 rwft-lb.
Mods:
- JE 13/1 1216 cc big-bore piston kit (runs fine on pump gas).
- GSXR intake cam installed and new GSXR exhaust cam in box. Bike made 140 rwhp with both GSXR cams. I put the stock exhaust cam back in, which gave up 5 rwhp, but had better low-end.
- Holeshot Jet kit with K&N pod filters.
- Holeshot full ceramic coated header.
- Holeshot muffler.
- HEL oil cooler and -AN 8 cooler lines. Installed to keep the bigger engine cool.
- Stiffer Barnett clutch spring.
- Custom rear pull rods with 2 ride height positions.
- 2 seats (1 stock and 1 trimmed for more comfort).
- Napolean mirrors (black plastic) replace the stock chromies.
- Autometer oil temp. guage (stock appearing).
Kelley Blue Book Retail is $4850.
I'm asking $4500.

heye yorker:
be sure to go on and on about the knock and all the problems you are having which is the reason you are selling it. we dont like getting ripped off around here
also, dont forget to mention its running off the stock oil pump that was used on the old motor than spun a bearing.

These are bad *** bikes, I had one as my first bike, slip on muffler and a jet kit went 11.07@121 MPH. Buy this bike and have MUCH fun with unsuspecting "crotchrocket" riders. I waxed many on my old fogey Bandito. Very fun bikes, way less insurance than a sportbike. Way more comfy. At one point in time a Bandit was the fastest streetbike in the country. TTT for ya.
CHeck this out, the blue Bandit on this page is one bad mammy jammy

Yes, Dave, Brock Davidson was the first street legal bike in the 7's (!!!) and he did it on a Bandit 1200.
The Bandit engine is based heavily on the '89 - '92 GSXR1100 engine, which is one of the most popular drag racing engines due to its strength and versatility. What does that mean? Almost unlimited aftermarket parts supply. Turbo's, Nitrous, huge cylinder heads with big valves, 100's of cams, etc. . . are all made for this engine. Hence, my GSXR cams, which have much more duration (~240 at .050") than the stockers (~215 at .050").
The Bandit is stock 1157 cc, but I bored mine out to 1216 cc and used JE pistons. They make big bore kits all the way to 1370 cc and I believe Brock Davidson's 7 second Bandit was 1500 cc.
Insurance was less than $200/year for me with Liability and Comprehensive through Progressive.
I've beat many Hayabusa's, ZX-12R's, and GSXR1000's at the dragstrip with average riders due to the huge mig-range torque of the Bandit.
Jeremy, there are companies that will ship motorcycles, but the cost is $300 - $500. I can work with you on the shipping if you're interested in doing that.

Jeremy or anyone else interested,
I have seen and ridden this bike. It is in EXCELLENT shape. There is nothing not perfect about it. The bike is in immaculate garage-kept condition. It's a low milage bike, as Mike rarely rides it.
To anyone interested in this bike, I'd say find a bandit locally and ride it. Just make sure you're happy with a Bandit. Then, fly in and pick the bike up. I gaurantee you that you will not be dissapointed. It's in brand new shape, but makes twice as much power. Fly in, drive it home.
I've seen the timeslips and have seen Mike ride this bike at the track. Very fast bike. This bike treads on the same ground as crotchrockets with pro riders on them.
He doesn't put many miles on it and now has bike #2 so he's looking to make more shop room.
Mike, if you want PM me, and I can come over with a digital video camera and film the bike. Let me know. We could upload a short video.
