What do you guys think of this deal?

http://www.ls1tech.com/forums/showthread.php?t=113214

For a few reasons I think I might scrap the idea of the 9inch...so I thought this was a good deal?

Also, if Steven (zturbo) reads this, I'd like to get ahold of you. I'd like to know if I could rent your garage for the install? I'll email you tonight. Thanks in advance.

I also want to know from those with experience, if the "torque line" posi will stand up to a mid to low 11sec run??? My car will be a mid to low 12sec car this year....but next year I have some plans for it

thats the cheap posi and no cover .. if u want to duplicate my rear end u have to get both upgrades from tbyrne ... look on his web page and see about the cover and posi upgrades

even my "upgraded super duty" posi didnt hold up to a mid 12 second pass andy ... once u get the posi .. u'll have to upgrade that urself (like i did) .. and i would suggest u upgrade the yoke like i did before u bust urs up and take ur DS yoke and u joint with it .. the pinion yoke that comes with these rears isnt exactly quality material ... u'll also have to buy new wheel studs with this rear end .. unless tbyrne will install 3" long ones as a package

It comes with the 1350 joint...the only difference between your rear-end and this one is the cover (I don't think I need that anyways) and the posi unit. It also comes with ARP studs.

that 1350 yoke is the one i broke.. i had to spend $250 on a forged 1350 yoke after it took my DS yoke and joint with it

those studs arent long enough... unless he specifies 3" long

you could probably rebuild that cheaper torque line posi with all the good parts to make it stout

the cover .. yah u probably dont NEED IT .. its just added strength against shocks which ur rear end will see due to the street twin and T56

but dont take my word for it .. see for yourself . maybe i was just unlucky .. there are people running the strange units in the 10s

I think you just had some bad luck with your rear...I just want to deternmine it the super strength posi is worth the extra $145 dollars for the up grade.

Andy,

If you go the 12 Bolt route, I would get the upgraded Eaton Posi. Payam may have had problems with his, but there are many cars in the 9s w/ this unit, and it ain't getting any better then that if you stay w/ a posi.

What gears are you trying to use? I'm considering selling my 9" 3rd Member. Strange Nodular, Daytona Pinion Support, Detroit Locker, 35 Spline, 4.30 gear. All parts have about 5k miles, except the gears are zero miles. Let me know if ya might be interested, and I'll figure out what I'm gonna do.....

Hey Andy, I was talking to Rybar today and his Strange has had problems too. Give him a shout and ask him what happened.
