Valentine 1 radar detector

Anyone here have one or know much about them? I hear they are the best and I really need one! They start at $499.00 US for the windsheild or visor setup but jump up to $799.00 US for the hidden remote model. Other than the hidden one being harder to steal I can't see me spending an extra few bills. I drive to Kelowna on a regular basis and I fear radar on every turn, peak or downhill straightaway. These babies are expensive but look at the price of speeding tickets.

You cant go wrong with the V1 but before you plunk your money down look into the new passport and bell models ( same company now ) . From what Ive read the valentein 1 isnt #1 by more than a **** hair now if that , not worth the # imo and the old V1's are not even in the same class without a rebuild. You can get the latest test results online and they do over the hill etc. I beleive the new Bells are rebuildable/ reflashable too so you can have them upgraded to adapt to new technologies like "instant on" or whatever they come up with next.

Also radar / lazer detectors wont do anything againsed being shot directly with a lazer gun, for that you need to match it up with one of the newest lazer jamers from a good source like Liden or Bell. There Illegal in BC but you can get them out of the usa and they work very well ( not to be confused with radar jammers which are crap).

I have the 985 matched to the bell lazer jammer and I love the combo. They test them on suv's and suff with big easy to hit front ends and they do very well . I have my jammers mounted in my snorkels out front and that combined with how hard it is to taget a black transam with no front plate or visible headlamps anyways , makes for virtualy imposible to target combo.

A good radar detector/ lazer jammer system is worth its weight in gold

I have the V1 and man has it paid for its self a few times over! Its definatly a great investment.

Then only down side is keeping it updated. Its almost worth while to just let it build up and buy a new one instead later on.

Awhile back I did extensive research on radar detectors under $1000, and all the reviews and other stuff showed the Passport 8500 to be the best. The V1 didn't do as well as most other competitors in the tests, the price is mainly because of the reputation, not the quality. The 8500 sells for about $300 in stores, or online around $240.

You have to be carefull with some of the reviews as I have heard they will use an older V1 to test againsed and skew the results. You cant go wrong with the top V1 , Bell or Passport models.

I just got an Escort Pasport 8500. I read a bunch of reviews and
for the cost I opted For the Passport. Don't forget that Radar
Detectors are only as good as the users. Instant on radar, when you're the only car on the road is deadly as Laser can be. THe reason I got a new detector was that I had a $ 425.00 US incident.
And recently I got stopped in Eugene Or for going 71MPH in A 55.
The trooper, after a long lecture and talk of County Jails gave me 2 options. One option was a ticket and the other option was a warning. Guess which one I took.
Anyways, speed doesn't kill, but speed mixed with stupidity can.

I just saw the Passport 8500 on-line for $249.00 US brand new. Wow, that's half price compared to the Valentine 1. If they are all just about the same quality I'm gonna save some dough.

Where do you get those prices on the V1?

399 for the V1 and 40 for the concealed display. (US prices). Looking at around $620 canadian for the two combined.

Can't go wrong with the V1. I love mine. Arrows, magnesium case, upgradable, one radio button on front instead of rice grain buttons on the top.....performance is great.

I got a Valentine 1 in the beemer, it cost 399USD. The remote display was 39.95USD. Best radar detector out there, no question. You can order directly from their website.

My last speeding ticket was nearly 400 so, it's well worth it!

Any speeding ticket that they gun you over 40k's over the posted limit will net you this massive ticket cause the fine doubles. Double the fines in a construction zone too. Do over 40k's over the posted speed limit in a construction zone and you could get close to a $800.00 fine.
