SFC install @ the exhasut shop in pk
i searched back and found the place you guys said to go to, budget muffler in pk. i went there and Dan said 75 bucks.... i thought you guys said he would do it for 50? anyways, just asking what you guys said to get him to do it or 50
that and i can't believe they charge 75/hour, omfg what a rip. they don't have anymore overhead (with our tools and work trucks, ours is probably more) cost than lets say our electrical company, and we do not charge 75/hour. that and being a brake and muffler place, i would not even consider them a mechanics shop. i know other real mechanics and they charge about the same, which is still too much. i just think mechanics cost too much for what they are worth. they are not worth 75/hour.

Do you see many shop owners driving around in luxury cars and spending all their time on vacation? You might be suprised at what sort of overhead shops have. Another thing is that the parts stores are VERY bad about giving everyone a discount. This means that most shops cannot charge retail for parts. We also pay a LOT of money into chemicals. Brake clean, carb clean and all the rest is sure expensive. If its so easy to be a mechanic maybe you should give it a try
. BTW I would personally take SFC to a welding shop whos rates are about $50/hr and very like weld better.
Good Luck.

Cory: i never said it was easy, i just said i really don't think they are worth 75/hour. all that stuff is going to get charged to the customer in materials and such anyways, so it doesn't make the hourly rate anymore. how much do you get paid compared to what your boss charges. i get 15.50/hour and my boss charges out at 45/hour. i am just a 2nd year apprentice. our journeymen get 24/hour. with the same ratio of charging out to paying employees, it would be a journeyman mechanic getting 40/hour. is that what your boss pays your journeyman?
i'll probably just weld them in myself and give my mechanic a case of beer to use his welder and his lift. that is a lot cheaper and i can't see it as being a hard thing to weld.

You probably won't find anyone who will do it cheaper.
