just declare your goods at the border

So I went to pu my parts today at Point Roberts, the border guys were not happy with my hand written paperwork-and took my stuff!!They found a different money order reciept in my truck & said if I wanted my goods back I had to pay 40% on the $130.00 reciept they found.Sure hope my million dollar mufflers fit after all that!

If you don't have the original reciepts, or a signed note (with a phone number) from the seller, don't even try to bring it across.

Baer shipped me my brakes with no receipt. I got harassed for 20 minutes, but they let me go because I paid the taxes on the $695... they thought that was fair. (that was the actual price, so it wouldn't have mattered once Baer sent the reciept to my house).

The other time I bought 4 '98 rims with rubber for $200 US, and the guy didn't include a note. I had to produce all emails, his phone number, the Money Order reciept and a print out of his original ad... then they let me take them home. But they held the wheels while I went back to Richmond to get the info. If I hadn't done it by 8pm, they were going to ship them off to the warehouses... which would have ment I would have spent a ton of time retrieving them, and I'd have to pay storage fees.

Thumbs up

That is all you will need, some kind of proff that shows how much you paid and a contact number I have brought a lot of stuff across and always just provide them with the MO receipt.

The law states that you need to bring adequate documentation to supplement your claims when you cross the border. This can be an eBay receipt, email printouts, money order receipts, etc. What I've done in the past is import the email or ebay auction details into a text editor, and very carefully altered the price I've paid to reflect a lower price. But do NOT underestimate the intelligence of US border officials...if you try to scam them they will catch on.
