headers and rust

i was just thinking of this. since my car is lowered and i want headers, and i know they will rub on bumps, what do you guys think about running them for summer months only and then taking them off for winter and using the stock manifolds, so they don't rust???
how much of a hassle is it to take them off? anyone taken them off? im sure once i did it a few times i could cut down the time it takes to do it.
or am i just stupid?

...Muff, don't drive your car in the winter...pretty much everyone on here has a beater...it is a pain in the *** swapping headers..come have a look at my car with the FLP's there's lota space underneath...and your not stupid...you just want to do the right thing...BTW, I was thinking I have the SLP smooth bellows as well and ported maf's I could sell as a package with the lid and cai..

-SLP lid
-SLP cai
-SLP smooth bellows
-ported MAF ends
spare K&N

all for 250.00 usd...

...we can talk more next weekend about what you do next for your car.

Sleeper is right...changing your headers is a pain in the @ss. Just stay off the roads when slushy/salty and you'll be fine.

A lowered car will take it's toll on headers no matter what season it is. I should show you what my y-pipe looks like which makes me so happy that I don't have long tubes, man i'd shot my self. Anyway once headers go on they stay on you don't want to be changing something like that on a season to season basis. Think of all the gaskets you'll go thru!!

well my options are limited there, a) all i own is my car (well 65% of it), this computer, and some stuff in my room (ps1,2 dvd player + stereo) b) i have no wife c) my neighbors don't have a dog and d) i have no kids. so i am pretty much screwed there. about the last point of yours, i live close so it's all good

19, living at home and paying off a car loan. luckily i don't have to pay rent or for food so that relieves some payments, but my car is 700 and for some reason i can't save up money. stupid restraunts and liquor stores taking my hard earned money. hehe
