That sucks.
Reminds me of the Challenger.............
There's no inbetween when it comes to space travel...........you either have 100% success or 100% failure.

Not cool at all, it's also a shame how most people even forget about the constant on going space programs.

Its a shame, they were 16 mins from landing...Im sure the world is feeling for the families of the astronauts and Im glad there were no Canadians aboard.

However this only pisses me off more at CNN as they are only interested in ratings and changed today from 24 hours a day of Iraq coverage to this and as soon as something develops again there, this tragedy will be off the air as fast as profitably possible.

Yeah but what about the Army helicopter that crashed a few days ago. I don't see the news talking all fricken day about them. Wonder what the helicopter crews' wives and families think about that....

The thing about that brent, is that the news tries to show what people want to see. Unfortunately most people don't hear about most helicopter crashes, they happen all the time. I actually didn't even know they had a crash a few days ago.

The space shuttle, on the other hand, is MAJOR news that everyone wants to see. And actually a lot people watched it happening live.

RIP

Now there saying that it could have been a problem that started durring launch. Durring launch some part of the launching mechanisim slammed agaist the left wing probably causing the heat shielding to crap out and fall apart. I think they new about it but they went on about there mission. Durring one of the "S" manuvers on re entry something on the left wing gave out and they begon to hurdled thru air sideways (hehehe sideways_into_atomopshere) no longer becoming airodynamic. Imagine a box moving thru air at those speeds!! Anyway they died and were all sad.

Yeah. When I woke up in the morning and started this thread, the shuttle had just been incinerated. I got home 18 hours later and it was still all over CNN - kinda disgusting really, but thats the way newsmedia works I guess.

7 people died in the accident, millions die elsewhere from other causes...
