kermac on bridgeport.......or any other one for that matter are scam artists. i made the mistake of taking my camaro there and they did a butcher job to it, had to fight with icbc and kirmac head office to fix it, its better now but not as good as it was before some **** decided to break into my car and mess up the paint
a really good place to go is Rich City auto body, they are the best in richmond and the lower mainland to boot, corvette specialties is good too but if you want something close and omega go there!!
Icbc pays on a rate scale they pick so no mater where you go they will rip the shop off equally . They will pay corvette specialties the same as they will pay kirmac , craftsman or billy bobs autobody as long as there all accredited shops . Non accredited shops get less . If you care to have the job done right take it to an icbc acredited shop thats NOT FLAT RATE !! . With icbc's new bs refinishing scales youd be lucky to get your car back looking half as good . **** I hate that company .
Blue , was it your 79 ?? What did they do to it ?? older cars usually get the old car fix up as the paint isnt in so great a shape etc . Kirmac is a quality shop if you bring them your 99 accord or camaro it will look good when it leaves .
Some icbc bull**** ;
They use jobber and recycled parts WHENEVER they can !! They are now promoting to the shops a new performance rate scale ( with a sort of built in benifit package ) Basically , skimp and use junk parts on the jobs and you willl be rewarded with kickbacks , although not in those exact words .
If your car is to be returned to pre accedent condition shouldnt that include oem parts ??
They slashed refinishing and body work times to the point you have no choice but to cut corners . They will pay me 2.5 hours to refinish the entire box side of a brand new 2003 dually chevy pick up . Now how am I going to do a beutiful job on a customers car for 2.5 hours which includes ;
Backsanding and cleaning up the repair ,
mask for primer , mix primer and apply ( 3 coats )
Bake the primer to full cure
Sand primer , 320 , 400 and then 600 .
Sand and fix blemishes on rest of box side so as not to paint over them .
Remove decalls and moldings and all that pos sticker residue
Mask truck and put in booth
Wipe down with thinners , blow and tack repeatedly
Mix paint
Mix clear and blending agents
apply blending agents , follow with basecoat minimum 3 coats , allow to flash and apply clear . ( 40 mins absolute minimum )
Pollish box side . . . . . ok that was 4 hours here . . . . what part of the job should I hack to ensure I get paid
Have a look at just how big a new dually pu box side is . Now consider that those 2.5 hours that icbc pays me to refinish it also includes shop materials . So there screwing the customer out of a proper repair , screwing the tech out of his sallary and screwing the shop out of there supplies and any chance at proffit !! Icbc is one dirty **** of a company and need to be removed asap !!
You should here how they talk about peoples cars . " Oh its just a pos truck , 240 000 km's he doesnt need a new bulk head just smash that one a bit straighter and throw the beadliner back in "
Ok . . . this was a 98 dodge deisel pu that the guy had since brand new and would still fetch 24 000 $ easy !! . Is this not an Icbc customer , did this guy not purchase your ****ing bull**** insurance so in case his truck was stolen and thrashed , it would be restored to pre claim condition .
When your purchasing insurance from icbc your not buying sweet **** all . They are screwing YOU as customers by charging too much for insurance and screwing you on repairs . They are screwing the shops that do the repairs every chance they get by paying bare minimum paint and body times and leaving them to find profits where ever they can . The shops have to pay to detail the cars out of there own pockets and are taking a HUGE loss on supplies . Its there game !! Gm makes the dealerships have bodyshops or else I wouldnt have a job , the bodyshop I work for now doesnt make money . . . . not many are . I talked to one of the head guys from kirmac and he swears never to open another bodyshop in bc . There is one company making money in this trade right now , ICBC !
They were supposed to be the peoples insurance company
They have a monopoly on basic insurance !
They pick what you will pay for insurance
They pick what they want to pay the shops to repair your car and what should be repaired ! Icbc sets the shop door rates . . . . hmmm . . . . that seems odd to me as there an insurance company .
If you dont like it , your not driving or your outa buisiness !!
Down with Icbc
Anyone else notice your icbc safe drivers discount goes down 5 % now instead of 10 % but if your in an accedent it still goes up 40 % . Just another example how that company tilts the table in there favour every chance they get !! I laughed when I heard about this
