First Day with New Car..........Again

Every summer it feels like I have a brand new car to drive, it's been away all winter relaxing and waiting for some decent weather to come about.
I got 3 days worth of permits yesterday, so I went to my parents place and took it out.
Feels so good to drive it again, shifting through the six speed.
I got onto the freeway and in a couple of minutes was greeted by a challanger.........unbelievable......
A new black Mustang GT was coming up fast a ways behind me.
I slowed to help him catch up, and to gauge when I'll need to shift down.
I didn't have to wait long - I shifted into forth and put it down just at the right time, he got his hood up to my rear bumper and then began to fall back........more and more......

I let off and had him catch up and pass me easily.
It was a gent in his late 30's with a pretty blonde in the passenger seat.

As soon as he passed me, I visually saw him shift down and floor it. Having the jump on me.
I had to go into his lane to pass a rig.
He moved over when he got passed it, which was good because I was passing him and continuing on up to 220 leaving him faaaar behind, not for his lack of trying.

I slowed and he caught up again - matching my speed.
We both gave a thumbs up at the same time.
He continued on at around 120+, while I stayed at highway speed and took the next exit.

Damn it feels good to own a Camaro.

I know the exact feeling of not driving the Camaro for a couple of months and then finally bringing it out and feeling like you have a new car. My Camaro sat for 5 months and have had it back on the road for 2 months. I really like it because you get to learn all the little things that you forgot about your car and how much fun it is to punch the loud pedal to the floor. I kept familiar with my car by driving it every Sunday around the neighbourhood for 10-15 mins.

Mabye for an auto............
I'd be well into the rev limiter.
Third mabye.........but there wouldn't be much point, third will be past it's torque making ability - forth will put me right smack in the middle of some much needed power at that point.

nope mines a m6, you rev match it before you dump it into 2nd. bring up your revs to about 4800 rpm drop it into 2nd and pop the clutch......and awaaaaaaaay you go.

thats at about 100km/h though.

Hmm........I've never tried that, 93Form....

Wouldn't a person be past the LT1's infamous low end power though?

I just put 3 months of insurance on the car yesterday, after having the car sit for a few months. What a feeling though!! It was a nice warm night, so the t-tops stayed off for a long time.

your already going at 100 km/h why would you need low end power?? i always drop it into 2nd from a 100km roll. a lot of guys in the us do this as well. so does matt, payam, armen, dunno who else. as long as you rev match it though, cause if you dont then youll eventually wear out your synchros.

i have no clue, but as long as you bring your revs up to 4800 before you dump the clutch youll be fine.
