Reza Civic never came close and if you don't believe me, ask him yourself.

I'm NOT saying that I want a carb there Payam...I said for the money and race, which is what we where talking about. It takes WAY less money to make a carb faster...for about $6000 I would have had about 475hp with my Vic Jr. heads Holley 850HP carb...along with 6mpg!

Go on the Canadian Pro Street Assoc. web site and tell me how many "street" carbed cars you see in the top ranks....of for example Real Street cat. There is your proof

I agree with Andy on his last point. You can make just as much power with a carbed motor for a fraction of the price.

But you give up fuel economy, emissions and reliablilty.

I ditched the LT1 idea for my '69 Camaro. It was going to cost waaay too much, and for what? I'm now going to go with a carbed motor for it. I don't care about mileage, it's a '69 Camaro and that's all that matters.

Carbs are brainless gas chuggers , yeah there cheaper but theres a reason , there simple . . . . like fire on the end of a stick before there was light at the flick of a switch . Just wait until the new camless engines come out

Right on the first two but a carb can be quite reliable. Most cars went well over a 100k miles before carb work was needed. I was wondering where this was going to go. You're gonna have to pull 12's to stay with an old big block car with an LS6 that's getting traction. If you can do that then you guys have a chance but the high horsepowered big blocks were slower back then because of their tires. They'll pull 12's with slicks, not 13's, even in a Chevelle. Possibly even some good DOT tires. With ton's of torque it's harder to launch and let me assure you they have more torque and horsepower than our cars, enough to make up for the few hundred extra pounds of weight. Torque wins races.

Now a dayz most of the drag cars are fuel injected. Most of them have a carb like setup with the pro flo fuel infection.

The poor Nascar people seem to do pretty good with carbs too. Not to mention the numerous road racers in this country running 600 hp Camaros, with a carburator. Not that I think they're so great cause I don't, but they have a place and can work quite well. The first fuel injection car I remember on a production car was in the late fifties on a Corvette. It's not very new, they came that way stock, it was an option though.
