Thumbs down Car acting up!!

So i went and got gas and the damn thinlg wouldnt wanna start
so i tried a few times; sounded like only a few cylinders were running and would stall.. Finally i got her started and she aint running 100%
Dont know what it could be? Possibly the opti? i dunno its buggin me
so maybe matt or anyone else w/ knowledge if u got time; can u take a look @ her for me
It even stalled @ a red light and took me a few tries to get her goin again!
i think its either the wires or opti or its just a POS
lol
ok thanks!

I'm not too knowledgable about opti's, but that does sound like a ignition wiring problem. So I think you may be right. I would figure Matt or Roy might know better.

First thing I would check is fuel pressure. My '96 did the same thing and the in tank pump puked. GM rates the life of the pump at between 80,000 and 100,000 km's. When my opti went it wouldn't run at all.

come by my house, drop off my rims and tires and lets go for a spin and see what it feels like. have you ran out of gas latley? could be opti or coil, but didnt you do the opti when you swaped the cam? how are your wires? my opti was pretty much dead when it did the things you describe but it can also be coil, or wires as well.

Running out of gas is bad for the pump (it can overheat). Does the pump prime when you turn the ignition to 'ON' without starting the car?

Definitely check fuel pressure first since you ran out of gas recently.

Its funny how some people run out of gas on a daily basis & some run out once & they're screwed LOL, look at Armen the Niterider, he runs out of gas everyday

Sounds like a similar problem when my pump went out. Like the other post says, see if the pump primes when you put the key in.

I let mine sit for a bit, tryed to fire it up again and it seemed fine. While running, 20 mins later it stalled again. Car wouldn't turn on whatsoever. Tried a few hours later and it worked again, then stalled.

Sometimes if you stick a 2x4 on the tank and pound it with a hammer it can "wake" the pump up and start it. If it's the case time for a new one.

If that's not it and the car feels like it's not running on all cylinders, maybe it's something simple like a spark plug wire touching the engine block somewhere.
