Yeah, I'm torn about Burke...

I think he is an idiot personally. He says stupid things (I mean real stupid), often proving himself wrong, as if he has not thought ahead. Says dumb things about the media and players.

But, I like what he has developed as a team. They are a fun team to watch.

Trouble is, do you give the GM credit for developing a team attitude? Or the coach? Or an assistant coach that the players like? Or the players themselves? That is, who is REALLY responsible for making the team what it is today? If it was Burke, that I love what he has done, but do we as fans know who should get the credit?

He is the CEO. Buck stops with him. How can you argue with the evolution of this franchise over the last six years.

I say Burke should have stayed. So what if he had a mouthy attitude. I liked his style.

Just so it's clear, and my above post may not be, part of me liked Burke, the other part didn't. He may have been the best thing for the club. I don't want to come across as just ripping into him.

He obviously knew how to make some good decision. He just lacked the ability of relaying that to the public... his customers.

On the other side, sometimes I don't know how much influence a CEO has, especially when all his employees make MORE than he does.

I agree, who do you think brought in Jovo here and Pronger to St.Louis. I liked Burke but what has he really done? Sure the Sedins should pan out but he traded McCabe in that deal. Souldn't have traded Aucoin either and what about picking up Sanderson and Rucinsky? Bad signings when there were much better talent available like Lang, Sullivan and Gonchar to mention some of the many. His draft picks really never pan out either and most managers are judged by their playoff record. I don't mind replacing Burke but I doubt there is anybody better available.

but steve it was burke who pulled the deal for jovo, personally the best thing hes done since hes been here.

i personally liked keenan since his new york tenure. i know a lot of people hate him for one reason or another. i feel it was keenan who layed the foundation for burke.

one thing i do fault burke for was not tryign hard enough, i mean it turned out naslund was hurt since his moore hit, in feb?? and they knew he needed surgery and was going to play hurt into the playoffs, dont you think he should have tried much harder to make an attempt to bring in someone since that time? so many guys were available, kovalev for one would have substituted and added much needed depth to a hurting naslund. like burke says hes a lame duck manager.

The three people in the world I would most like to fire; No.1-Donald Trump, No.2-John McCaw, No.3-Stan McCammon. Gotta take down the big guys in control.

I think that Burke was a great GM. I have never seen anyone back their players like Burke did. He stood by his whole organization through whatever was going on, good or bad. For the money that he was given he did a hell of a job forming this team. When he started the Canucks only got 64 points in the whole season. Now over 100.

The scary thing is to see what he will do for a team that gives him ALOT of money to use. I think he will build a strong team. Hopefully he goes to a eastern team.
