What the ** do I have
I recently traded for a 95 Camaro LT1
Seller claims ss. I don’t think they made made the ss until 96.car is straight no rust. Thought good project.
Had the car for 23 hrs and the clutch fork seized on shaft.
So it’s in shop. I don’t know enough about these.
The car is 5.7 l 6speed trans
Fully loaded with t tops
Spoiler and 1 Center hood scoop
I really don’t care that if it’s z28 itd be really cool if ss... before everyone get on me about this, this is my first sports car. I was previously about the 4x4ing. But spending 1 to 2 grand a month on repairs on account I drive like an *******... lol. I had to get out of that hobbie. But I love cars so for cheap muscle this was my car. I joined this group in order to gain knowledge from camaro vets. So please don’t slam me for not knowing ss or z28, as I am learning. Also tires
Wtf
I need tires
rear 275 40z17
Front 245 40z17. But rim lip exposed? Like how in faq did they mount that??
What the heck size tires? My old Jeep easy 35s. Lol. Omg maybe over my head eh folks???

Re: What the ** do I have
You're right, the Camaro SS production didn't start until the 1996 model year. A 96 or 97 SS can be identified by the RPO R7T on the service parts identification sticker. The tire size you list (275/40ZR17) came front and rear on a SS coupe in 1996. A Z28 should of had P245/50ZR16 (RPO QFZ or QLC) or P235/5516 (RPO QMT) tires. If you have 17" rims on the car, they have been added after it left the factory. Not sure what you mean by "rim lip exposed". Maybe you could explain.

Welcome to CamaroZ28.com ! ! !
Hopefully we can answer your questions.
If your car is in fact a 1995 model, it can't be an SS. As you noted, first year for the 4th Gen SS was 1996. Just for heck of it, check the VIN. The 10th position indicates the year - 1995 is an "S". 1996 is a "T".

Not unusual for someone to clone an SS. Here is a source that describes the SS option, including the single-scoop hood, 17"x9" wheels (coupes only), etc. A real SS has RPO "R7T" on the Service Parts Identification label in the glove box. Should also have a supplementary ID label on the door identifying the content by SLP who modified the SS for GM in 1996.
Specifics of various models:

General 4th Gen FAQ:
4th Generation (1993 - Present)
The stock wheels on a 95 Z28 would be 16"x8" with either 235/55-16 (26.1") or 245/50-16 (25.7") tires. The SS coupes had 17"x9" wheels with 275/40-17 tires all the way around. Technically a 245/40-17 will "fit" on a 9" wide wheel, but it's going to look stretched and expose the edge of the rim. It's also 1" shorter (24.7") than the 275/40-17 (25.7"). A 245/45-17 would have at least matched the rear tire diameter and the stock 245/50-16's (25.7").
Hopefully we can answer your questions.

Stressboy,
Try a VIN decoder, for free. They can give you pages and pages, for some cars. The NHTSA thing is pretty good.
