Just wanted to say hey. I was actually a member of this board in 1999. (I still have the lame web site I made when they first offered free web sites in 2000 I think)
I took time away from here while driving a poop slow 1985 Corvette. I have had 6 F-bods and I now (as of today) own my 7th.
The list goes something like this:
1969 RS 350/4-speed
1973 350/TH350
1980 Z28/auto
1991 Trans Am GTA L98/700R4
1995 Z28 convertible LT1/700R4 (joined CZ28.com 1999 when I bought this)
2000 Z28 hardtop LS1/MN6
and today . . .
1997 Z28 hardtop LT1/MN6 with 74,000 miles.

board name

It was a name that contained 95a4convert or maybe 006speed something something . . .

I was also a member of the local club, LV-F-Body Association. I'll have to dig around in one of my hard drives for soome pics.

Welcome back Foy! I actually just got back from a trip out to Vegas a few weeks ago. The LV F-body guys are a great bunch.

well . . .

. . . I sold the 2000 Z28 and bought a Tacoma. Then I bought a 1985 Corvette. The longer I had the 'vette, the more I realized how stupid it was to get rid of the Camaro. I've had a few F-bods and loved every one. I work for a classic/muscle car dealer and see a lot of cool iron come through. The Corvette dropped a lifter so I let it sit for a few months. This '97 Z28 6-speed came in with 75k miles and Car Fax showed it was a one owner, so I bought it. I took the Corvette today to have new lifters and probably a new cam installed - then I'm going to list it.

Say what you will but yes, I do like the LT1 very much. For my pocket book right now, a 6-speed/4th gen Z28 represents a lot of performance for the money. This car has new exhaust, springs/lowered, 52mm TB and g-Force Sport 275/40 rubber front and rear. It's not just a little faster than my Corvette, it is one hell of a lot faster. In fact, with a set of headers, this thing would easily smoke my un-modified 2000 Z28. I bet it could just about hang with it right now.

And, since I'm writing a book here and everybody else has probably gone to bed an hour ago, I'll tell you that the handling difference between my '95 Z28 and the 2000 was amazing. That '95 cornered hard and flat and handled almost as good as the Corvette. The 2000 Z28 handled like crap, in my opinion - didn't even feel like a sports car at all.

This '97 feels like my '95 only better and, it's a 6-speed, as a proper Camaro should be. It is also much more powerful than the '95.

Okay, so I'm a blathering old boomer that does not know when to shut up. If anybody flames/makes fun of me, I'll understand.
