Howdy
Howdy
I've been a lifelong GM fan, particularly Chevy's, but the mid 60's GTO's were a passion too. I've always liked Corvette's and Camaro's, and the bad Chevelle's, but we chose to raise 7 kids (now we have 15+ grandchildren) instead of indulging my passion for cars. I did have for a year, a 1966 Chevelle SS 396 4-speed, but the impending arrival of our second child, prompted a switch to a Buick Station Wagon. Good thing cause #3 came about a year later. Lifelong hobby was building Chevy engines, mostly small block, mostly moderately modified. Probably built a total of about 50. I've never looked inside any of these newer generations of engines, but would like to someday.
I've always kept up on the latest high performance cars, but don't regret for a minute the decisions we made.. I still at 63 years old subscribe to 8 car magazines, and enjoy them all. Love the big performance the car companies are giving us, and hope it lasts.. My preferences are with sport handling, over power but too much power is never quite enough..

Welcome to the board. There is a lot of knowledge here on the newer platforms that you can learn from and your experience can provide a lot of help especially for some of us young guys like me I'm only 23.
Re: Howdy
Oh yeah, Howdy back to you Hillclimber! From where do you come?
Re: Howdy
We live in Grants Pass, Oregon.. Have for all our lives except for 2 years of college. We really love our town. I and my friends grew up with cars, drag racing out at the mint farms.. It's a public road, about 5 miles south of town, where at night you could see police coming for about 2 miles.. It got too popular and we quit racing there after about 3 years.. Other than the Chevelle, I've also had a 66 Barracuda (ugly purple) with a 273 and 4 speed.. It would turn around corners only a little better than the Chevelle.. My favorite car was my first, a 64 Corvair Monza Spyder.. loved the way it handled, after fixing the suspension with Enco or Enki (I can't remember the name anymore) products. Only other car that I personally liked was my 64 Nova SS. It was actually my dad's car, but I drove it almost exclusively. It was in high school, and had a 283 powerglide... This was just before getting my first car, the Corvair.. I probably won't post much, but I'll read most everything on here. Maguire the car wax guy is a car guy, and I'm one of those of whom he speaks... a car guy.. Thanks for the welcome..

Welcome to CamaroZ28.com from a card carrying member of the NHRA and AARP.....
Age is no barrier. I had a 66 GTO that I bought brand new, and a 68 Firebird I bought new. Switching to the 4th Gen F-Body, with the all electronic fuel injection was a learning experience. But it was worth the effort. The HP capabilities of my 94 LT1 put the GTO's 389 Tri-Power to shame.
Time to pick out a modern F-Body and give it a go!!!
