Future Z28 Owner

Getting ready to buy a '94 Z28, so I figured I'd join up. Right now I drive an '85 Blazer and love it. It's treated me well over the past few years, only has 115k original miles and runs strong. It just doesn't do well on the freeway for extended periods or once it gets hot. So, I decided to shop around for something else. Found the Z28 on Autotrader for $4900. The guys has taken great care of it, has 99k miles, garage kept, oil promptly changed every 3k miles with Mobile 1 synthetic. Has the LT1, six speed Hurst shifter, t-tops, brand new tires, Center Line wheels and a lot of other crap that I don't remember (headers, exhaust, intake, et cetera). Went out and drove it the other day, very fast and very smooth. Just waiting on hearing back from the credit union about the loan. Pretty much sealed the deal with the owner, though. Can't wait to get it!

Here's a picture:

Congrats, Nice car and Nice find bro! Welcome aboard. We had a95 Camaro Z28 LT1 Just like that, same color and everything but the hood... I got my license in that car... I hope you get it and take care of it. LT1's are becoming more and more rare.

Thanks, man. I really hope I get it haha. I was kinda worried what the insurance would be like since I'm only 20, but Progressive quoted me $140 a month. A lot less than I expected.

Eh, you should be fine. I had a 2001 Z28 back in 05, Only 4 years old at the time and I wasn't paying more than $190 for full coverage and I was your age as well... that car is a lot older than the 01 so yea you'll be fine.

Should be hearing from the credit union any time now... I'm getting anxious.

Edit: So, the credit union denied the loan request because the car is too old. Gonna have to apply for a personal loan.

Well, doesn't look like I'm going to get it. I couldn't get it financed since it's so old, so I was trying for a personal loan. Went down to the credit union today and spent about two hours talking with them. I was going for a $5k personal loan, and they denied me. Basically found out that I have perfect credit, but not enough established credit. I've only been building credit for two years. Even though I have a 740 credit score and a debt to income ratio of less than 5%. It's pretty ridiculous that I couldn't get the loan.

On another note, I did find a loaded '02 Z28 with 60k miles on CraigsList today. It's more than I wanted to spend, but since it's newer than a 2000, I could finance it over six years with a low interest rate. Which I'd be able to do with no problems. Just not sure I could afford the insurance for it.

Don't give up! Keep looking, keep trying to find a way to make it work. I was in your shoes once and it worked out pretty good, even to my surprise.

I think it's sold. He took the listing off AutoTrader.

Yeah. There's actually a clean "WS7" I'm looking at for $8k. '99 with 60k miles, original owner. Not sure if I can talk the credit union into letting me doing an auto loan for it since it's not a 2000. The Blue Book value is almost $2k more than what it's selling for, though, so I don't know. I've wanted a Trans Am all my life so it would be pretty cool to get. Not sure if there's any sibling rivalry here, so don't hound me for it haha.
