Barn stored 96 z28 convertible

Pat campbell from Clayton Delaware here. I never met my wife’s father, he passed away in January 2009 from cancer. He was a biker and loved his Camaros. About a month ago. My mother in law gave me his 1996 z28 Camaro. It was tucked in the back corner of a barn covered in old kitchen cabinets and trash. It had not ran since sometime in 2008. I cleaned the car off put air in the tires and used a buddies trailer to tow it home.

4.5 hours later I had the spark plugs removed and used oil fog in the spark plug ports. Changed the fluids added a battery and nothing. Fuel pump was shot. After all that work and damage to my hands and forearms from removing those spark plugs I needed to hear this thing start. A little starter fluid and a small fire later boy was that exhaust loud.

The next morning I drove into town and purchased a fuel pump. Dropped the tank which was easier than the spark plugs. The tank was full of chunks of rust. Cleaned it. Cleaned it again. Cleaned it a third time. She fired up like it never missed a beat. With the exception of a serious misfire and a bad rad cap she drove like a dream.

After replacing the rad cap, cracked coolant reservoir, vacuum leaks, temp sensor, low oil sensor, oil pressure sensor, and a pressure wash she’s a dream car again. And as far as the misfire. I never put the spark plug boot back on cylinder 7.

needs some interior work and some paint. But im
obsessed.
