94 or 95??

I have a question.... the year on my car is 1994 but it wasn't released until 1995..so does that mean it's a 94 or a 95...I hate to sound stupid but I really have no clue..lol

Re: 94 or 95??

The “model year” of the vehicle is determined by the 10th position in the vehicle identification number (VIN).

Out of curiosity, what does “it wasn’t released until 1995” even mean? “Released”???

It's totally normal for new model year vehicles to be built and sold in the last 3 or 4 months of the year BEFORE. Been that way forever.

Good for you with it being a 96. You have availability to many more scan devices since it is OBD2 than earlier years.

I was alot happier knowing it's a 96.. im having problems with it starting and when i scanned it no codes popped up...so I'm going thru the motions now of testing starter ,checking fuses ,relays, etc. Ect...it's a long process...I have to look up everything because I know nothing...

Do you have a copy of the 1996 factory service manual?

If not, free download here:

Hopefully you are aware of Shoebox's site - the “bible” of LT1 knowledge:

4th Gen LT1 F-Body Tech Aids

The starter circuitry diagram for the 96 is on his site:
