Re: 1989 rs camaro

Hey Dustin, welcome to the site. I'm a fairly new member also. Congrats on the 89 Camaro RS. What engine do you have? My first Camaro was a 92 RS with the 3.1 V6 w/ the 5 Speed. I had a lot of fun with the car and hopefully you will too.

It's got a 305 tbi ohv it's also pleasure to drive I've been a fan of the third Gen since I was a little man but I've got some issues I can not figure out that came with it when I purchased it like electrical 😒 and I looked up the vin yesterday and it pulled up as a iroc/rs and I don't understand what that means

Re: 1989 rs camero

Welcome to CamaroZ28.com!!

We're a little light on 3rd Gen owners, but hopefully we can help with your issues.

Have you checked:

Comprehensive Chevrolet, ..... VIN Decoder

.... for a report on your VIN, including build date, all options and RPO codes. I have the full report for my 94 (which I bought new) and it goes to the detail level of which spring code you have on each corner of the suspension. Used to be free for a "trial", but now they appear to charge for it.

The VIN decoding can often be confusing... I know with the Firebirds, there is a single reference ("W" in 5th digit) that comes up Formula/TransAm, even though the car has to be one or the other. I think it just recognizes that they are both basically the same V8 models, with minor trim differences.

There is also a "Camaro White Book" available that has a lot of info on each model year.
