How hot does it run? Cuz 3rd gens were designed to run about 195-210 from the factory. GM's way of cutting emmissions.

Im not sure the exact temperature, but I do know its running hotter than normal. My power cut out in the heat (living in Las Vegas...its gets damn hot), but after disconnecting the AC - it ran fine.

Im thinking the belt might not be spinning fast enough to keep the engine cool

Unless you have a reduction pulley on the crank, belt speed shouldn't be a problem.....water pump impeller could be wearing out though. Also could be a sticky thermostat, or heavy corrosion in the radiator.

I would start by changing the thermostat to a 180* instead of the factory 195*, also drill 2 small holes in the flange before you put it in to prevent pressure lock. If that doesn't help (or just not enough) a new water pump is probably in order.

Question

Thanks for the tip I put a new water pump in the car cooled down alot .Now I seem to have some pulling in the car while Iam driving and also the car cuts off when i stop from time to time .But not often . I was wondering if anyone would know why the car would do that. Iam not sure how hot the car should be But it still seem a little too hot but not as hot as it was.
