Hey guys. I am trying to get into the computer programming field. In particular games. Are any of you computer programmers? What do you guys think of making a camaro online racing game, in which we will take input from our community of camaro enthusiasts, and build the WHOLE PROGRAM for free, based upon what people wanted/didn't want as a whole. Just an idea. Let me know what you guys think.

 

dude, that wud b awesome. there is some software that you drag race online against others, but its like 50 bucks or sutmhin, and i dont think games r really worth that much. a street racing type of thing would be sweet, i cant program but i know there are people who can. cept....maybe u should go to a volvo or ford bulletin to find the computer geeks. lol. j/k i must applaud u for your very good idea. i would love to get a street racing game on the net, where you get money for winning and stuff and you try to build the fastest car possible. i have a whole brainful of ideas, so if your interested in my ideas email me or something.

I think your market would be too small to make a game where you race just camaros. A good racing game would have lots of different cars with realistic physics and lots of different tracks. It would also have a career mode, and ways to upgrade your cars.

whoops... thats Gran Tourismo 3.

if you're talking about an easy web based drag racing type thing, there is the Nitto 555r challenge game on their site. You can drive a camaro in there. Its only fun for a couple hours though.

Also (IMO) writing a decent game is too much f'ing work to just give the thing away. What would be the point?

Well, guys, what I would get out of it would be the experience, and a start into the game programming field. I know what it entails, and right now I am driving trucks for a living, because I can't find anyone who will hire me to write software. I would LOVE to be a programmer, but can't start a company of my own. So, I came up with idea of this. Kind of like army operations, a game written by the army to advertise the army. It is totally free, and 100% online. I was thinking of doing something similar, but we can get for mustangs, camaro's, with REAL mods, and REAL HP, UNLIKE Gran Turismo 3, where a computer chip gives u like 40HP. Gran Turismo 3 is AWESOME, except for the fact that the mods they have are not accurate. And would be great to have interactivity with different people, and come up with some ideas as to how to make it unique. That is where the message board comes in. We can make this awesome game by bringing together computer animators, people who can draw Great 3D stuff "I am not an artist, just a programmer."

Bottom line, my idea is to possibly use this idea and build off of it in order to show a company that I can program, and LOVE It, and would MUCH RATHER program than drive trucks for a living. Let me know if there is anyone out there that is interested.

 

yo man, i love your idea. i have lots of ideas to do for the game once you get some work started. you may not like my opinions to put in or my ideas but i think this would be a very cool game. it would be really cool to have a game online just for camaros and mustangs or whatever is decided. let me know if there is any use for my ideas.
