Terrible news........Greg (gbelli) in bad accident
I FINALLY just spoke to the man of the hour. I told him all that had been done on this website and he was so impressed. Enough of the chit chat, I'm sure you are all dying to know some finer details. In no particular order:
1) The accident-It was tough to tell what exactly happened, but from what I gathered he was behind a car that was starting to make a left hand turn. This Mustang (driven by a 40 year oldish woman) pulled out assuming this guy would be able to finish the turn but wasn't due to another car coming. Greg was behind this guy turning. The lady stabbed the gas assuming this guy would finish the turn, which he didn't, so she goes AROUND the guy turning into Greg's lane where he had accelerated to about 20mph since there was plenty of room to get by. She hits him head on and he gets planted on her hood and holds on for dear life. Bike gets crushed under the car. He is conscious the whole way through. After it had all happened he rolled off the car assuming a few broken ribs. He tries to get up on all fours and his arm and leg just buckle. Both are broken in 3 places, with the arm being broken near the shoulder.
2) Surgery took all day Saturday. He is expected to recover 100% (thank god!). I think he said that there may be a few little issues bt nothing major. Said theres a 98% chance he will recover 100%, if that makes sense. He will be wheelchair bound for 2 months, then in a walker for a while, with the total rehab stint taking approximately 6 months. He swears it won't take that long!
3) Contact information:
Greg Belli
201 Mt. Vernon St.
Fitchburg, MA 01420 for cards
(617) 732-4240 to call him at Brigham and Womens hospital in Boston. He said DON'T call after 8 pm EST, lol. Hes very tired! Visiting hours are from 11am-8pm EST and he is in room 7B32. I think he will be there a few more days, then he's headed home to Fitchburg.
All in all he was in good spirits. He even cracked a joke about putting the wheelchair on the dyno at the end of July, lol. Oh, one last thing, he doesn't hold what happened against motorcycles, and he expects to ride again when he can, FWIW. He knows it was just sh*t luck and driver error on the ladies part. He sends his best and thanks all of us for support! If you guys need anything else let me know, I'll do my best to do it up!

I saw him today in the hospital. I went and visited with him for about an hour and a half. He is in very good spirits all things considered! He's already started rehab and says its tough, but doable. Hes still the same old Greg, we talked cars, bikes (he still plans on riding), stereos, as well as caught up on life before the accident, as it had been awhile since we had sat down and chatted. I wouldn't be all that concerned for him though, the nurses are pretty damn hot where he is! He's gonna be in the hospital until Friday, at which point he will be headed home. I'm planning on visiting him again Thursday if anyone is interested.
Just thought I'd let you all know.......
