>I really need it bad too ... I'm talking about the AFR 220cc Racing Head, LT4, Standard/Reverse Cooled #1066 , or the 227cc Racing Head, LT4, Standard/Reverse Cooled #1076 . These maybe the next new items (big item) I buy for the new year (sometime in 2003) .
I think that the compression of 9:1 (with the new engine and AFR 195cc heads #1031) , is a little high when I plan on using a little more boost .

I think with my discount from my dealer they are around $1100 for the set.

The Edelbrock Fast Burn heads I hear are pretty damn good for the same price.

No offense mrgto, but that's not really a great discount. I can get them mail order from a couple of places for the same price. Granted, there would be no shipping if I got them from you though. I'm kinda looking for a deal to be honest. I'll keep you in mind if I get fed up looking around. Thanks, I apreciate the offer

As far as the Edelbrock E-Tec heads go... I took a look at them but they only work with the Vortec style intake manifold. I really don't want to have to buy a new manifold too. The combustion chmbers are only 64cc. That is a bit too large as I want to keep it at a higher comp. I'm running the L98 Vette heads right now and those have the 58cc chambers. The GM Fast burns have a 62cc I don't want to go any larger than that even though I could compensate with some milling or thinner gaskets. But then I'd ending up spending more than if I just bought the GM's to begin with. See what I mean Vern

Take it easy guys
Joe

Hey bowtiepwr,

What unit are you in? I work at the MA National Guard HQ's in Milford. Do you ever get out this way on business? If so, look me up. I work in the Material Mgt Br, otherwise known as Stock Control. I'm a civilian, so don't go looking for SGT Crehan or anything Take it easy.

Joe, and the problem is NOBODY uses those heads. Nobody. I have not seen them on anything.

Finding a used set will be hard enough. Trying to get a deal on them is next to impossible.

Good luck.

How come nobody uses them. They seem to be the best bang for the buck within their spec range. Just curious, I've never heard that before.

Because for a few hundred more you can get heads that will out flow them. Such as AFR's. That's why. They just have never caught on for some reason.

Yeah, I'm sure you're right. I'm kind of partial to GM Perf Parts though. I don't know why, I just like it that way.

Maybe you posted that as a joke, but ummmmm.........

I already emailed you about them asking if they were the aluminum version. Besides, there isn't enough meat on those to port them effectively enough anyway. Thanks again though
