Question Wondering about the effects of colder spark plugs

I was just curious of how the colder spark plugs would effect performance when the nitrous is not being used. Does it make a difference at all or what?

I'd like to know this too. I want to spray in the near future but there are a number of things that take priority over that.

1) HIGHLY modified valvetrain
2) Headers, Brake Overhaul
3) Cooling system upgrade

Anyways, anyone who has done a tune-up on our cars before knows its a PITA to reach the plugs. So, with my heads off right now, I was thinking of going with colder plugs to begin with, even though I don't have NOS right now. That way I won't have to pull all that crap for another tune-up.

Even though I have an LS1, I haven't seen a perfermance change when l leave the nitrous plugs in when im not spraying. I think it would only affect performance when you have a modified engine.

Nobody else has any input on this? I want to know cause soon I will be buying the plugs and installing them but I won't be using the nitrous that much until spring breaks and I can get to the track again.

I have not seen any effect on horsepower by leaving the colder plugs in mine. Worst case, you would be looking at 2-4hp tops I would suspect though...if any.

Question

Is it possible that the multiple spark ignition could offset the effects of the colder spark?

I am running an MSD 6AL so I suppose it is possible. It feels the same (SOTP) with or without the ignition box though.

I haven't noticed any negative affects of using colder plugs. I've used TR6s and currently 103s.

how did you route your lines to spray from the front of your hood?

Friend of mine has the same hood. thanks.

I used a stainless -3an line from the purge valve to a bulkhead fitting that I installed in the hood.

I use the coldest plug to fit my heads that NGK makes. They are an "11" heat ranage, which is 5+ heat ranges colder than stock. Using a Crane ignition box and coil I have had no problems. I wonder if they would foul with a stock ignition though.

I didn't think that anyone was running plugs that cold! However, I will have a Mallory ignition installed real soon, so I would imagine that I will have no problems at all.
