Thumbs up Re: Stock pistons+nitrous???

Numerous people are running 150 shots on the stock pistons, etc. Some even more. I've been running a 175 on the stock shortblock for well over a year now with no issues yet. So a 75 shot should be cake.

Re: Stock pistons+nitrous???

your running a 175 shot on a stock short block . how in the world is that thing handling it. Im worried for my motors life. well actually Im not, some guy told me that running a 75 shot on my car would result in me putting in a new motor or forged pistons in six months. I guess i just wanted to be reassured. Are you pulling any timing? I really dont want to for a 75 shot. I done a lot of reading a most people say to pull 2 degrees for every 50, and then again people say with a stock tune and a wet kit no timing needs to be pulled until you hit a hundred shot or more. What do you recommend. Thanks for you input.

What kit for the 175 as heard some kits are rwhp and some are engine hp.
I think Nx is rwhp?

NX is fwhp...but think about it, for somebody to sell you a 150 rwhp kit, that would mean that system is jetted +15-20% to overcome applicable drivetrain losses..I dont really bite on the rwhp kits that much..cause your 150 shot is prolly a 180 shot or something..175 shot 200+ shot on so on and so on..but you still see at least 120 or so at the wheels on NX's 150 shot..can play with jets a LITTLE to get a lil more depending wide band 02 data

HTH

Peace

Re: Stock pistons+nitrous???

over the past 2 years, ive realized just how durable an LT1 is when it is tuned and everything is done right.

5k miles of being sprayed on a 100 shot
5k miles of being sprayed a dual stage 75/100
5k miles of S-trim on 5psi
5k miles of S-trim on 10psi and methanol

and the only reason the engine is out of the car right now, is i am actually "building" the bottom end, but have opted to even keep the stock crank and use forged rods/pistons for an agressive h/c combo with a dual stage 200 shot.
