Excellent work to the poster.

FYI, 1982z28with18s has run 10.8 @ 127.8mph w/1.56 60' on a 10 bolt.

Hey there, congrats on the 10's Andy. I have not installed my headers yet because of that article in GMHTP. I've had them on the shelf for over a year. I'm VERY inspired by you and your car. Gonna keep going down with the #'s before I put the headers on. I also have a n2o kit sittin there and it's gonna get used some time also. Gonna try to get a 12.5 with the manifolds thru suspension and weight reduction before adding power. Keep it up. Peace
Thanks. The headers I can understand, but the dope...get that off the shelf and on the car! Realistically, you'll get good results without the headers on the spray.

just thought i would post up about another 10 bolt(times in sig) that has held up well to some abuse. like stated earlier if you launch it fairly easy they do a lot better. also i think the key must be to have a spare rear in the garage and a truck and trailer lol.
I agree. I have two spare rear ends and the truck and trailer were only a phone call away.

Andy, good camera work. Was the 95 on the rev limiter? Was that a perfect light I saw too? One last question, you guys wearing snow suits, longjohns or what? I like good air, but damn that looked cold.
Thanks. Yea, I think it was a 6 speed car on the rev limiter. I've watched it several times and can't be sure. It sure launched good then started spining once it was well out of the hole. Yea, I saw that also - a perfect light! It started snowing so I didn't even meet the car owner, just his crew. I will say it went faster next pass. It was an LS1 heads, cam car. As far as the cold goes, everyone was bundled up! Towards the end, my videos were shaky as I was shivering!

Hey 3Dformula, I thought you might be interested in the following. I'm running "barney" a stock type motor with a cam (pretty much a max street effort-depending on your point of view). The other weekend without headers (manifolds and stock Y-pipe) I went 12.5x @ 108. Last night I went out with open pacesetters 12.04 @ 113. The quickest et was 11.94. Get those headers on!

jakesz28, I'm going out tomorrow night with a new bag of tricks including a fabed up a ram air system using the mass air sensor. The temps a going to be a little high at 91 degrees, but I think I can run an 11.7x or maybe a 11.6x if I'm lucky. It was 85 degrees or so last time I went out and went 11.94.

I want to maximize this combo on horsepower before I hose it down. I sprayed this combo on the street, which is what I built it for (mostly cam selection wise). It likes spray. I should easily be able to spray a 10.30 or so on a reasonablly sized shot.

I took "Barney" out last Friday and went 11.71 with the ram air system shown below. The bigger deal is Barney put on 2 more MPH @ 116.58. Now, this Friday is spray day.

Hey Andy can you shed alittle more light on your combo. I am really impressed on what you have done with the 140,000 mile LT1

yeah, no kidding, would like to know, as I'm running a stock-block/cam/head style setup and have tons of stuff I can still do before spraying it. U have a very unique setup so far from what I understand. Good luck!

The short version is at 117k miles the car went 11.003 @120 mph with a 180 shot. The car had racing seats and power everything (2004). The motor was stock from the air filter to the Y pipe. At 140k miles I took another shot at a 10 second pass and went 11.05 and 10.89 (2007).

Late in 2007 I massaged 55k mile junkyard Lt1 we call Barney. I cleaned up the heads, put in a thinner gasket, new bearings (crank was bad), re-gapped the used rings, put in a good cam, and painted it purple. It now has about 5k more miles than it did before. To date it's gone 11.71 @ 116.58 on motor. On Friday I sprayed it with a 150 shot and ran a bunch of 10.90s @ 123 mph. Way slower than I thought it should go. But, I ran the car with a different setup than the 11.71 setup, a mistake.

I couldn't figure out why it was so slow. So I compared the data logs to the ones from 2004. I missed some key tuning. I'll likely take it out this Friday for some another attempt to run at least a 10.70 maybe a 10.50. It depends on how much of the 11.71 I can get back out of it. Although, I did run three passes in the 70s so it should be there.

I guess that's the short version with a focus on today. If you have were looking for something else let me know. Thanks.

Over the years, I've read most of the posts about your car Andy.....AWESOME Times to say the least......I have a question: For your 150 and 180 shots you mentioned running....might I ask, what your jetting's were for both (Nitrous & Fuel) .........Just wondering if those shots you mentioned were additional "rear wheel" HP, or crank HP............Thanks and good luck with your car................Joe

Pyro, I run 3.73 gears with a 2500 stall. Last time I weighed the car it was 3300 pounds. There is a standard list of weight loss items over on the LS1 site, just search weight loss on cz28.com.

Joe, I make my own nitrous systems. I follow NOS jetting for the most part who rates their kits in crank hp, I do believe. A 150 shot is a .063" jet. For the 180hp kit I add a second solenoid with a .030" jet. To find that hp level you'll have to use one of the many nitrous jet calculators out of the web (beats me if it's crank or rear wheel). As far as the fuel side goes, I'll either dry spray or use propane as the enrichment fuel.

The "Barney" motor I'm running now has 30# injectors so I'm dry spraying. I just took Barney out Friday and laid down a couple 10.6x passes after some tuning. Thanks Joe!

this dry spraying you speak of, is this just like a dry kit? Are you using the maf to add the extra fuel? Interested.

pyro719 - The suspension is stock w/9" MT slicks.

slomaro - Yes I'm a MAF sprayer. As a side note the stock LT1 fuel curve is rich enough to dry spray 50-80 hp.
