Re: Stand alone fuel system.

I you have not considered a stand alone fuel system it has a lot of benefits. for example i run 116 octane in my fuel cell it probbaly has not real benefit buy makes me feel better inside. plus you are not taking the regular fuel system when you are sparying. also you can really fine tune you jetting because it gives you one more adjustment you can play with the fp wiht out effecting the engine. I wish i could have bougt a pre made kit when i built mine.

Re: Stand alone fuel system.

I am not a fan (at all) of the separate fuel system idea. Seems like another system that can fail and these things already have too many parts on them! My prior config made over 700rwhp with a fairly simple fuel system: 255lph intank pump, Kenne Bell "Boost-a-Pump" and stock lines and fuel rails. As far as race gas in a separate system and pump gas in the tank, that also doesn't make sense to me. If you need race gas, use race gas. The octane of a mixture may not be a simple product of the proportion of each fuel. It will never be higher, but it may be lower.

Example: you have a 400hp motor and are running a 200hp shot. If you have 91 in the tank and 110 in the auxillary system, your octane will be equivalent to ~97 OR LESS. And you will still have the problems of running leaded fuel. If you don't need more than 103-104 octane, you could run unleaded race gas in a single system and have a lot less hassles. If you need more, you will need leaded gas but you may as well get full benefit from running it and not mix it with pump swill.

I am surprised no one argued with me about this, as use of a supplementary fuel system is so common. Anyone?

Alright Rich, I'll bite...

I like it from the main idea of not having to upgrade the intank pump. As far as keeping things simple, it seems fairly simple to me. Simpler than having nitrous, supercharger, superfueler, BaP . Like anything else, if assembled with some thought and high quality parts, I think its a good idea.

I agree with that philosophy, but do you run a race fuel/pump gas mix?

I liked it in my situation where I didn't want to upgrade the stock tank/lines . I see your points though.

Re: Stand alone fuel system.

I like having a stand alone sys.

I have has a high pressure sys on my car for 6-8 months. 45psi for my LT.

109 VP race gas in stand alone tank $3.00
Fuel saftey switch, nitrous wont work is pump fails
Not starving gas from the motor in any way.

Most common on LS1's is the #1 cyclinder looses pressure and has problems, detonation, burn valve, trashed spark plug

I like the system, ntoa only that but its hidden for the out of town races
I'm not tying into the fuel rail where most people would look for a nitrous kit, beside the air intake for the nozzle. Check out my sig for pics, the nitrous is on the car, so it the stand alone kit, Good luck finding it

Re: Stand alone fuel system.

I run a dedicated fuel system as well... Roadtrip's is mega clean.

Mine's low pressure however.. I run a Jaz 1 gallon nitrous enrichment cell, Mallory comp 5250 (250 gph) pump, a regulator on each stage, and a fpss.... Just like Roadtrip said, if the pump fails the nitrous will not activate... Both stages flow perfect at 10psi, without having to fight with the carb for fuel..... I've got it wired so the nitrous will not receive voltage, unless the pump is on... And stage 2 will not receive voltage unless the pump, and stage one is on.... There's no such thing as being too safe....

Mine (unlike roadtrip's) is not hidden... It stands out like a sore thumb.... lol.. Mad props on the stealth setup.... That's the first time I've seen your bottle... I'm very impressed..

Re: Stand alone fuel system.

Rich: I am not an advocate of the race gas only in the cell idea. Just dump 5 gallons into the main tank.

I think its a nice way to add enough fuel, not octane.

Re: Stand alone fuel system.

I like race gas in the cell. One gallon is cheap fairly cheap yet filling up a 15 gallon tank gets a little pricy. if you motor runs fine on pump why pay for a full tank. yet on the bottle having any more octane just gives that much more security.
