I think he leaned the motor out, he prolly didnt do much research while he ran the n20
Maybe he didnt run any saftey devices, maybe his fuel pump went bad...we'll never know til he posts about it

Re: So who Blew their Motor up on N20!

i blew mine on a 100 shot..

put about 5-6 bottles with 100 shot then 2-3 bottles with a 150, then back to 100 shot and about on the 11th bottle i ran it 3 times back to back and then BOOM, number 1 piston shatterd, split my block, put a smiley face on the oil pan. Went to take off heads and the number 1 piston was gone

This was about 120k miles maybe with full bolt ons and a cam. Now i have a 355 forged with a 236/242 cam and putting on the 200 shot now

Did you have correct furel pressure Crazy? Were you using safety devices?

I'm just curious if it was just a sh*tty deal, or if happened because of a lack of safety devices.

Anyways, congrats on the 355 and good luck this season. Can't wait to see some times.

Re: So who Blew their Motor up on N20!

one night i sprayed a 100 shot..13 or 14 times within an hour...non stop racing...on a stock 130,000mile motor..that I beat the **** out of daily...I just ran a few gallons of race gas whenever i sprayed..kept the temp down with a 160 degree thermostat and changed the synth. oil every 1500 miles...i even went through about 10 bottles with a 150 shot..its all on how you take care of it. The only mods were ac delco plugs two stages colder, msd ignition...cpu tuned to 160 degree thermo, shorties and a catback..oh and a CAI at the time. This was in my 93..it was a NX wet kit..i LOOOOVED it.

hmmm... I did take off my FPSS becuase it was giving me problems and i ran it alot of times without it, but i also was usiong a plate and im thinking #1 cylinder starved and didnt get enough fuel and then BOOM...

it was a WET kit also. I had a bigger fuel pump, but still using stock injectors. Im sure the injectors were fine. Just those plates arent that good when u place them behind the TB.

It could have been the excess 100 shot back to back to back and the piston was soo hot cuase not fuel was being sent there and just the n20 was over feeding it..

Dam thats impressive for 130K miles.. did u use stock fuel pump?? whay mileage did you sell the car and was the motor still good? How many gallons of race gas did u put in your tank and what octane?

Yeah, I was thinking maybe even if the solenoid hadn't closed. Or that you had just shot too much nitrous in too short of an amount of time because the manufacture recommends not shooting longer than 15 seconds continually. I hope to not be spraying any longer than 12.5

Re: So who Blew their Motor up on N20!

Nitrous on these LT-1's is a very tricky thing, if you can make one live for awhile on a 150+ shot, your either lucky or know what your doing. The hypereutetic piston are junk! They are not friendly to detonation. So you really have to be on.

Notice most of these blow ups are from lack of fuel, lean and mean. I reccomend a FP guage mounted where it is very visable. This is important on all power adder cars. If you see loss or fluctuation you got a chance of saving the motor, or some of it atleast.

Re: So who Blew their Motor up on N20!

Oh yea blow up story, Mine was on a Stang 125k had ran many 10# bottles through(50+) it. I was running a 125 shot on a stock pump. Got a little crazy on night and figured i would top the car out on the rev limiter using the juice. I sprayed for at least 30 seconds. Needless to say the car blew both headgaskets. This car took nitrous for about month more and then I went boost. The car was fine eith it for awhile, I then upped the pulley to 11#'s from 9# and it was fast but blew another gasket with in two months of this. Once again lack of fuel.

Ha ha ha Hell I watched the FP guage on one of my built stangs drop from 120 to 60, needless to say about that time i was getting out of it, it let both gaskets go, it was pretty sweet. Fogged the road for atl;east an 1/8 mile so thick you couldn't see the other side of the road.

All these with forged pistons and all were put back together no rebuild. Last one needed the head cleaned up

That's the kind of stuff I like to hear

I found a digital fuel pressure gauge that is electronic, it was on an LS1 site, but I lost it and need to find it.

God I hope I don't blow up.

don't forget the lights! NJ allows us blue for fire/emt's and red for the police. Captains/chiefs get blue and red.

Oh yeah, I got a galls 2.8 million candle power strobe on each window, and a dual 2.8 million candlepower strobe for the dash. All blue.
