Re: Safe shot of nitrous?

do yourself a favor and get a Mallory 685 box. It has window switch, retard and better spark all in one box. Also you might want to pick up a purge and blow down tube.
Thanks for the info on the 685, thats the way i will most likely go.

How much tuning did you have to do?

You should be able to pull enough timing out with the Mallory box to run 175 shot or better.

None, I ran two steps colder $1.99 non-platinum autolites with 100 octane unleaded. My computer was stock. I also changed my fuel filter frequently.

Results:

'93 Corvette with A4 with stock 3.07 gears.

13.75 @102 in motor; Dyno 235/262 rear wheel horse/torque
12.34 @117 on N2O-175 shot NX "Shark" nozzle; Dyno 375/487 ""

Very respectable results. I hope to be around there with the addition of a PCM tune

2 degrees retard "per" 50HP is a pretty safe start........you can always pull a bit less out after you see how it's running, and how your plugs look.......

I would go with new wires... 40 bucks or so, is a small price to pay to know you don't have a wire that's going bad...ya know another reason is a new hotter than stock ignition like your getting can make a bad wire come to the surface even faster.....the MSD 8.5's are a good choice.....Also very important, Make sure when you talk to bryan from PCM's for less he "understands" you have an ignition box to handle your revlimiter, and that it has the capability of retarding your timing for the nitrous, that way he dosn't by mistake give you a conservative nitrous type tune more for someone with the stock ignition and revlimiter........This way he can move your stock (fuel cutting) revlimiter way up out of the way to around 7200 and give you a good naturally asperated tune, so you will have the best of both(just double check where he set your TOTAL timing at (mines at 38deg) so you'll know how much to pull on the bottle).....this is the EXACT way mine is set up from him and it runs great on and off the bottle....good luck

........Yea, the drivers side sucks pretty bad(on the opti side)..........don't forget to use some dielectric greese on each internal connector on your new wires...and a little on the inside of each inner boot.....this will eliminate corrosion from ever building and give a water tight seal ,especially where you want it(on the opti-spark side)........it will also make it easier to hear and feel the "click" when you push your wires on the "sometimes" hard to hear or feel opti-spark side........
