relay question

this is for a mallory install with nitrous. can i wire a relay as a ground source only. say it has the 12 volt switch source and the other 3 are gounds. 1 gound for the relay itself to ground, then the incoming ground signal and the outgoing wire. it will get its 12 volts when i arm the nitrous system. will a relay work like this, in my mind it would but i am not an electrician.

Yes, a relay can be used to provide a ground to a device. Just ensure that the ground source is a good solid connection and whenever possible use the negative battery terminal itself as the source.
