question about remote bottle valve openers

does any one know for sure weather or not an NOS remote bottle opener will work with a zex system and zex bottle? the zex bottle opener looks different than the NOS bottle valve opener.

The nos bottle opener is simply a on/off solenoid that gets installed between the bottle and the line...It will work with any brand bottle. Some of the other brand openers have an actual motor that turns the **** on top of the bottle.

I'm not sure about other bottle brands, but the NOS bottle opener wasn't a direct bolt-on to my Nitrous Works Bottle. The NOS threads are larger than the ones on the Nitrous Works valve, so an adapter is needed. It may be the same for other brands as well....I dunno for sure.

That is because the NOS bottles use the "commercial" nitrous fittings while NX, NW, ZEX all use the "medical" grade nitrous fittings. You can go to any welding shop and pick up the fitting that is needed to use the NOS opener on a different bottle. I bought the fitting for $4, NOS wanted about $30 for the same fitting and bottle nut. This is at least what i was told at the welding shop.

That one is more expensive, but probably would be better than the NOS one. I dont know from experience if this is true or not, but I heard that the NOS one can restrict nitrous flow. That one won't since it just turns the ****.

I have heard that some have had problems with the NX opener getting stuck or not fully closing/opening the bottle when needed. I've had the NOS opener for about a month now, and have not noticed any restrictions of nitrous flow since using it...

FWIW, that problem with the NX is usually due to the clutch needing tightened.

I just did this on my NX opener, and it works super smoothly now. It's super simple to do, too.

I'd recommend the NX. The only "downside" if you can call it that is getting the bottle filled--you'll have to take the opener off each time to get to the bottle nut, or have a battery with you to operate the valve. But it's pretty easy to take on and off.
