Q on Dry Kit MAF efficency...

I tried a search using Effiecency, MAF and dry but nothing came up..

I'm about to order the NX dry 100-150... just had one last question. How efficently (sp?) does/ can the MAF pick up on nitrous density?

Re: Q on Dry Kit MAF efficency...

A buddy of mine took his stock bottom end 1999 SS into the mid 10's with an NOS 5177 dry kit, spraying through the MAF. Never had any problems related to N2O/A/F control. The MAF seems to respond accurately to the mass flow rate of the combined air/nitrous charge.

The dry kits that spray before the MAF work very well with the LS1 as compared to the LT1s due to the faster processing speeds of the PCM. I also have a friend with the NOS dry kit jetted for a 150 shot on his 98 LS1 and the nozzle is mounted in the airbox before the MAF sensor obviously. It works flawlessly.

Re: Q on Dry Kit MAF efficency...

Just my experiences here(both first hand, and seeing others).....For the LS1 kits that spray through the MAF....Iv'e personally seen some work really well (like their supposed to) and watched many others have "major" problems when the PCM did not make the nesessary fuel changes to compansate for the incomming nitrous......some popping a head gasket, some with burnt valves, and others with melted pistons because of the error....we installed a kit ("perfectly" with all the goodies, like all my nitrous setups) that sprays into the MAF on a friends LS1 camaro years back.. after the plugs would continiously read VERY different from one another, and one time after burning a plug electrode clean off after a quater mile pass..... the kit was removed for a wet fogger kit, and still works perfect today all these years later........I personally would NEVER rely on any factory PCM "alone" to properly adjust the fuel ratio for nitrous..........but that may just be me.....good luck with it............Joe
