Purpose of having multiple bottles?

What really is the purpose of having multiple bottles. I see cars everywhere with 2 and 3 bottles but with just one set of solenoids and jets. Is this just for looks or does it help with pressure or anything?

Mostly for looks. Helps to have a backup bottle just in case the primary runs out, though. Some 2 bottle setups are actually functional, though it's just more work.

I will be installing both of my 15# bottles on the back seat for two reasons. A) I usully only get 2 1/2 passes per bottlesso I will have more nitrous. B) Cosmetically I think it looks bad ***, and C) I don't have to bother will bottle changes at the track. If I run through 30# of nitrous and I haven't broken anything I am in good shape

Speaking of mutiple bottles i have a 15# nos bottle with a gauge mounted on it for sale in the forsale section. 180 shipped!

Uthinkso, you could have a 3 bottle set up

that would be cool

for most cars it is really unnneccesary
it is done to reduce pressure drop (it helps to equalize the pressure loss between the two bottles)

for tuning purposes!!!

Pressure drop is the performance reason. For the guy up above, why do you only get 2 1/2 passes per 15lb bottle? How much nitrous are you spraying. I have an NX Shark direct port kit, running a 300 shot, and get about 4 good solid passes on a 15lb bottle. Thats a true 300hp setting also. I have found, by filling bottles, that NOS bottles seem to only work till about 1/2 bottle or so. I have import customers that come in all the time saying they are completely empty, but when I weigh the bottles, they still have 6 lbs in them. These are 10lb bottles Im talking about here. Now my customers that come in with NX bottles, can go till there is around 2 lbs in the bottle, before they claim they start "surging". Just a little info you might like.

Would a bottle heater cure this? If so I'm assuming it'd have to be a electrical one as opposed to just the blanket types?

Two things(number 2 being most important to me since 175 shot isn't too hard on the pressure since I run it around 1100psi );

1) less pressure drop during run
2) quicker recovery in pressure after run

No, the bottle pressure wouldnt cure the problem. The problem I beieve is in the pickup/valve area. But I havent done much research into it. I just know that NX bottles seem to outperform NOS bottles...BUt to each his own. I do believe in keeping bottle pressure around 1050psi though, and no lower.

hey thanks tamez

custom n2o do you think it could possibly be from mounting variations in the imports cars or
the way the bottle is filled??

how do you fill your bottle (freeze em etc?)

just curious

How the bottle is filled makes no difference at all. Once you have the proper amount of nitrous in the bottle, you are done. The different ways of filling bottles is just ways of keeping the pressures down while filling. It doesnt matter what kind of car the bottle is mounted in, as long as the pickup tube is submerged in the nitrous. Too many different variables to answer your question exactly, but I hope I made some sense. Yes the bottle mounting could cause this problem, if it was mounted wrong.....
